You Decide

No matter the perspective, no matter which face of Socialism presents itself, they're all ugly.

No matter how much the leftists want to quibble about it, there's not much difference between Socialism, Marxism or Communism. Sure, there are semantic differences, but they all end up resulting in a totalitarian regime...and usually a murderous one.

I grew up around a bunch of rich rancher and farmer's kids and it didn't seem fair to me for them to inherit generational wealth and all that land. They taught us about the different types of govt. in school and of course, the teachers being patriotic Christian Conservatives, taught us that our form of govt. was the best, some others were OK - for them - but that the socialist/communist ones were bad. (of course, they were right, but should not have let their bias creep into their educating).

After reading such Marxist slogans as "As each to according to their ability, to each according to their needs." I decided I might very well be a Marxist. It sounded wonderful, everyone working together and everyone being treated equally and everyone getting the same proceeds from their work...but then I discovered that, while that was the intent, it never worked out that way. Not everyone got a dacha on the Black Sea and not everyone got a fair return on their work and not everyone was treated equally. In fact, instead of doing away with the class divisions, it magnified them and the wealth rose to the top.

I also became a fiscal conservative on the day I got my first paycheck. <grin>

We definitely need to stop using "Liberal" as a pejorative. The left in this country saw that was how they were being perceived and attempted to rebrand themselves as "Progressives"....in the same way as liberal/conservatives are generally considered two opposite terms, they wanted to imply that the right is "Regressive". No, don't even humor them with that, but rather call them what they are: "Leftists".   That's the best description for them and the worst label they would want you to use.

And don't let them re-write history with "Nazis were right-wingers." No, they were not. The label has been distorted by the left as so to make it part of the Conservative ideology. Nothing can be farther from the truth. (and explaining that would take a dozen more paragraphs) Suffice to say, the left has more in common with Fascism than does the right.

Liberals/leftists/socialists/communists like to label conservatives as stupid which got put in place many years ago. My feelings are that liberals are quick to make up their minds about things without considering the possibilities of how those ideas will actually work out many years in the future. This group tends to be gullible and easily tricked by slick presentations lots of bells and whistles, not realizing not everything presented as theory will work when humans are involved. It's been said the more highly educated a liberal/progressive is the more gullible they are. I suppose that's because they consider themselves too smart to be fooled.

Conservatives on the other hand are critical thinkers who consider all aspects of how a decision will work out several years down the road and try to make their decisions based on the greater good of all. Conservatives are normally slower to make a decision and are less easily swayed by group think, public opinion or the latest trends. Are we stupid? I don't think so.
