The Chill of Solar Minimum

Lemme see in Algoreland if we had boutht into the global warming end of the world narrative, they would have told us all the money they stuck in their pocket stopped global warming. Bet they would have had an awards ceremony.

However looks like Mother Nature is doing it for free. How about that???

The Chill of Solar Minimum

"Sept. 27, 2018: The sun is entering one of the deepest Solar Minima of the Space Age. Sunspots have been absent for most of 2018, and the sun’s ultraviolet output has sharply dropped. New research shows that Earth’s upper atmosphere is responding.

“We see a cooling trend,” says Martin Mlynczak of NASA’s Langley Research Center. “High above Earth’s surface, near the edge of space, our atmosphere is losing heat energy. If current trends continue, it could soon set a Space Age record for cold.” .....

Comments:
While perusing headlines a couple of days ago, I saw an article about the Trump administration predicting a rise of 7 deg. by the end of the century. I first figured it might be some Onion piece, but it was published in multiple news websites.

The prediction wasn't a change in policy for this administration, but rather an admission that we cannot do anything about it. I happen to agree with that, because IF carbon emissions are the culprit, the U.S. could cut ours to zero and it would have absolutely no effect, namely b/c of the other countries not even lowering their own and in fact, increasing them. (two of the largest being China and India)

I'm surprised in a way to see this fall out of the headlines so quickly, but I guess Kavanaugh vs. Ford took center stage.

That said, if this "chill of solar minimum" comes to pass, then we might be glad we have done something, even unintentionally, to counter the drop in temp.
Thanks Mike. Go to this site which is a weather site used by pilots so all kinds of data. https://www.windy.com    Account sign up is totally free. As a member you can choose what aspect of the weather you want to view. Select CO Concentration which is carbon monoxide, then pan out to the world view. I love that site, it's a total toybox you can play with for hours.

Scientists were predicting a mini ice age back in the 70's based on study of earth cycles. If it's cooling then less water evaporation from the land so good time to plant saplings. They're much cheaper and take root easier better than larger trees if planting hole is properly prepped.
I had to retrieve my password; I had signed up and forgotten about it, although in my defense, it must have been a computer or two ago.

That IS a great site. Showing some strong wind here in the TX Panhandle, but I didn't need the site to tell me that. -grin- There's zero CO concentration in this area, but I'm sure whatever CO we produce via stockyards and refineries and such is in OK in just an hour or two. I read an article the other day announcing that two more area wind farms were coming online with the potential to power something like 30k+ homes.

This area is showing a large amt. of dust mass, but that's nothing new, either. Wind=dust.

Anyway, what I said about China and India was correct, although I didn't know how massive their output of carbon monoxide was. Sheesh. No wonder in photographs of street scenes in both China and India you see so many people wearing respiratory masks.
Thanks Mike. I've been surfing a Chinese pop site for several years and have seen many photos of masked people for several years. As if the encroaching dust storms from north China don't make enough pollution in Beijing add to it industrial pollution.
"Chinese pop site"? Sounds interesting. I subscribe to a website called EnglishRussia with photos of life there now and in the USSR era and esp. a load pf pics of military equipment, always enlightening.

Near the end of my roughnecking career, OSHA started mandating dusk masks be used while mixing "mud", the fluid that is circulated while drilling a well, but when mixing the main ingredient "Gel" (a bentonite powder) it would clog up the mask within an hr. or less. You could easily go through a box of the masks within a day or two with all three shifts using them and then the tool pusher/boss of the rig would start complaining about using so many of them. Most guys just kept two doors open in the mud house and stayed upwind while mixing the relatively harmless substance.
Thanks Mike. Interesting about the mixing of 'mud.'
SABER = Sounding of the Atmosphere Using Broadband Emission Radiometry
Thanks Jarasan. I hope it can come about.
