Twilight Zone "It's A Good Life PT.1-3 Air Date Nov 3,1961

Rod Serling a genius before his time passed way too young.  Wonder what tv would be like today were he still living?

Cloris Leachman and Billy Mumy are in this one.

Not sure what television would be like, but Anthony would have a career with the Youth Brigade/Census Takers. Everyone think good thoughts. :-)
Thanks Time*treat!!! Yup think you might be correct!!!!
Rod had a very hard time with his shows, the studio bosses fought him every week, every episode. The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery, the studio bosses thought it was too far out and that most people didn't get it. The same with another show, One Step Beyond, too far out.   I personally loved all three shows.

I didn't know the extent of Rod Sterling depression until recently when I read a article about the show and the fights that went on week after week with the studio bosses that drained him. He suffered with deep depression for not being successful with his shows, shows being canceled.   He died too young, and I do blame those knuckle heads from the studio who refused to have any vision, who pounded on him relentlessly.

Yet he did more than he could have known then, he taught a large number of today's movie makers and writers their craft, and if asked who influenced them, they would name Rod Sterling.
Thanks Kaptainess!! Never read up on any studio background stuff about him. Just enjoyed his work immensely although some of it was so thought provoking it was scary. Studio stuff back then was in the box formula thinking tightly controlled by a few insiders.

Also very saddened when he died, believe headlines back then said from a heart attack. He accomplished with stage props in black and white what special effects has not equaled today.
I have watched twilight zone many times and usualy got the message he was giving with each show.
I watched all three parts here and did not get the message sent.
Could someone fill me in?
Hey, that was great! That's one of the stories that became part of the Twilight Zone movie. The kid even had the same name (Anthony). I think the movie version had a slightly happier ending though. In the movie the kid kept playing Bugs Bunny cartoons on TV. It was hysterical. But, don't you know it, they didn't invent the thing -- it came from Rod Sterling!
Thanks JAP!!! My take on it was Serling's version of futuristic thought police, compliance police all wrapped into one seemingly innocent persona/ ideology. If someone else has a different interpretation, please post it.
Thanks Todd!! I like the original black and whites, simple sets, up and coming actors we'd recognize as stars later. Very quantum, dimensional, stuff scientists are all over today and will probably validate in the future.

How I wish he'd lived longer to produce more.
