Democratic race

Past several months have distanced myself from drama of political posts.  Also not really excited over any political candidate this year although a very interesting race so far.

Since Dick Morris knows the Clintons from the inside thought I'd post his latest commentary.

Interesting article about Obama's stragegy.

"Obama used party rules to foil Clinton

"Barack Obama planned for the long haul.

Clinton hinged her whole campaign on an early knockout blow on Super Tuesday, while Obama's staff researched congressional districts in states with primaries that were months away. What they found were opportunities to win delegates, even in states they would eventually lose. ......."

" THE CLINTONS JUST HAVE TO WIN

By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

Published on TheHill.com on May 28, 2008.

In January 1998, right after The Washington Post revealed President Bill Clinton’s relationship with Monica, I spoke with him about his predicament. Shell-shocked and stunned at the calls for his impeachment, he knew he was facing the fight of his life. At first, he was vintage Bill Clinton: maudlin, sad and full of self-pity. But as we talked, he gradually changed his tone. Admitting that he was not innocent, but recognizing his diminishing support, he then told me defiantly: “Well, we’ll just have to win.”

Several years later, I was surprised to read in Sidney Blumenthal’s memoirs that then-first lady Hillary Clinton had used the exact same words on the exact same day in a conversation with the White House aide. “We’ll just have to win.”

That’s how the Clintons think — no matter what, they have to win. Winning is everything, and how you do it is not determined by any inner sense of values or ethics, but by a resolve to do whatever needs to be done, no more and certainly no less. So, on that day in January 1998 — because they had to win — their campaign to discredit a 23-year-old intern began in the White House. Private investigators dug up her old boyfriends. White House operatives spread the word that it was the president who was the victim. The young woman was an unbalanced stalker.

As impeachment unfolded, the extramarital affairs of key members of the Republican leadership in the House were suddenly outed.

Hillary Clinton began the disinformation campaign. Appearing on “The Today Show,” she righteously claimed that there was nothing to support Lewinsky’s claims and insisted that Bill was just “ministering” to a “troubled young woman.” Then came the blue dress and the Clintons finally — and reluctantly — changed gears.

But they never changed philosophies. Winning is still everything. No matter who gets destroyed, offended or hurt in the process.

We’ve seen it throughout Hillary’s campaign: the race-baiting by Bill Clinton in South Carolina and by Hillary in Kentucky. His comparison of Obama to Jesse Jackson and her talk about “hard-working whites” was not accidental. The Clintons don’t make verbal mistakes.

Everything they say is deliberate. And then Bill Clinton actually had the nerve to say that it was the Obama campaign and not him — that they had played the race card. Once again, he’s the victim.

Now Bill and Hillary are desperate to keep Hillary in the race. Despite mathematical impossibility, the Clintons are biding their time. Out of money and out of delegates, they are waiting for some unknown force to suddenly emerge and change the race. That’s why Hillary made the reference to Bobby Kennedy.

Because the Clintons know, better than most people, that time has often been a friend.

Anything can happen. Remember how, in 2001, they left the White House as pariahs amid the uproar about the last-minute pardons involving brothers of both of them, the hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts of china, silver and furniture that they arranged to get from donors, and the theft of White House furniture. They were in disgrace. Hillary’s first press conference was a defense of her brothers’ payments for pardons. Both Clintons were lambasted by The New York Times, The Washington Post and every other media outlet. And, in Bill’s last hours in office, he pleaded guilty to crime and was disbarred.

But seven years later, Hillary has come amazingly close to becoming the Democratic Party nominee. And until he destroyed his reputation by his bizarre and belligerent behavior in Hillary’s campaign, Bill Clinton was the most popular guy in the world.

Time allowed Bill and Hillary to remake themselves — he as a save-the-world philanthropist and she as a hard-working senator who got along with everyone.

Just like time had turned the special counsel’s draft indictment of Hillary into scrap paper, particularly after Jim McDougal, the chief witness, died in prison.

And time erased the memory of the Clintons’ pardon of the FALN terrorist group to help Hillary with the Puerto Rican community.

But now time is finally running out for the Clintons. They’ve stayed at the party too long, and it isn’t a pretty sight. But they won’t leave gracefully. No way. They still believe that there’s a chance to win. And they’ll do anything to make that happen.

Because they just have to win.  "

Comments:
The Clintons helped create more conservatives than the GOP did. ;-)
No matter what anyone thinks about the Clintons, love 'em or hate 'em, the people need to be counted. As a registered voter in FL, I certainly didn't like a mostly Republican legislature and a Republic governor (formerly Jeb Bush's Attorney General) passing a bill that keeps me from being heard. Regarding "entitlement" I think we're all entitled to make choices & decisions. If the situation were reversed and Sen Obama weren't being addressed by his proper title (why is always Hillary and Senator Obama?) it would be called racism of disrespect. If he was asked to leave the race after Super Tues when there were still many primaries ahead, his supporters would have cried foul play. He definitely has run a smart, organized campaign. But regardless of whom we support, we need more choices not less. Time*treat, if what you write is true then why am I thinking of voting for McCain? I guess I need to decide if I want 4 more years of the same & possibly another 100 years in Iraq or a big "change" where what's left of our income contributes to a new Marxist regime. Why work at all? Why register to vote? Just withdraw your savings & send your illegal neighbor's kids to college. In any case, I'm so disgusted I want to throw up when I think of our future.
Thanks for letting me post that, but I made some terrible typos. I need to proofread more carefully.
Thanks Time*treat and Justxploring!

Anyone who thinks they won't get an overdose of Marxism under any liberal whether democrat or republican is fooling themselves big time. A keynote of one of Hillary's speeches in '07 was taken from the communist manifesto .... taking money from the rich, giving it to the poor.

Dick Morris said in his commentary above "and the theft of White House furniture."   Guess a person has to earn respect regardless of gender.
we are now going to experience what it will be like with a black president.the black people have for years, now it's our turn,so suck it up!
Scorpio, race or religion shouldn't effect a president's leadership. Nobody should have to "suck it up" because a leader needs to represent all the citizens, Black or White, rich or poor. As idealistic as that sounds, I hope the words that a government by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth haven't been lost or forgotten.

Konane, I used to actually quote "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" since I believe in helping the disabled, the needy, taking care of our elderly and treating the heroes who have fought for our country with dignity. Then I met a lot of lazy people, a lot of selfish people and a lot of greedy people and realized that Democratic Socialism is a contradiction in terms.
Dick Morris is a little sorry turd.
Dick Morris is a little sorry turd.
Scorpio - there's a good chance that McC will be our next President.
@jxp, usually the person is called by whichever name they have larger on their campaign fliers ;-)
On her posters, it's big "Hillary", little "Clinton", on his, it's little "Barack", big "Obama". Also, the press sometimes asks people what they want to be called. Did you think "Tipper" Gore was disrespectful? Or "Ma" Richards? Or "Oprah"? Or "Beyonce"? Some people feel that using their first name or nickname makes them more approachable. Sometimes it works.
Thanks Emily and Scorpio!!! Dick Morris worked side by side with Clinton for years until he said Bill threatened his life so letting the world know the real person(s). Don't care for his personality but very intelligent and knowledgeable political strategist.

Em sounds like Hillary makes her more approachable.

Have read metaphysically that whoever will be the next president is the person chosen by humanity's collective consciousness, that all predictions for our future are no longer valid .... that we're collectively in control of the direction the planet will go in. Said it's been so since 9-11-2001. Have also read that the Illuminati which has orchestrated wars for profit for the past 200 years is rapidly losing its grip since wide exposure via the internet.

There are several major world peace meditations this summer beginning this month which is linking together collective intent which should have awesome long term effect on the world.   Also believe collective consciousness can be used to change climate issues through the same benevolent intent.
Mistake on my part should have been   Time*treat sounds like Hillary makes her more approachable.   Coffee hadn't jump started my heart much less brain.
no i have no race issues,i've enjoyed working with blacks in florida,virginia,nj,etc..i just say the rich whites who think they can contol obama easier then say clinton, will have to suck it up,once they realize they were wrong.
If the globalists have to choose between losing their grip vs. losing your internet... ;-)
Time*treat you always manage to get to the heart of things! However think the cat's already out of the bag and they can't put it back in.

i'm just a whitey,what i know.
Scorpio, every exit poll & analyses of voting patterns since Jan has shown that rich Whites favor Obama and that Clinton appeals to the blue collar workers, so I have no idea from where you are getting your information.
Where is the Andromeda Strain when we really need it? These politicians are nothing but cow patties, they all reek for a few moments, then once the sun dries them out, even the flies become disinterested.

Obama, Hillary, and McCain? Is this the best we have? God help us.

If either party has any clue, they should offer up better candidates from the conventions.
oh oh,the dreaded xit poles,i was just trying to say,the rich whites are the ones that got us where we are, savvy?
Thanks Jarasan!! You nailed it too ...... "Obama, Hillary, and McCain? Is this the best we have? God help us." Whoever I vote for am going to have to hold my nose to do it. Not a fan of John Rino McCain.
ok,go live in venezuale, iran, north korea then, they are as close to g.bush as you could get.
Maybe the good candidates are saving efforts to run for president of the North American Union. Not a happy thought but perhaps future reality .... which is why they only gave lip service to removing illegal aliens.
"it ain't the things we don't know that gets us in trouble,it's the things we know for certain, that just ain't so".
Everyone of these candidates had questions that all the others couldn't answer now or then. Ron Paul had an answer for every one of their questions and nobody seems to listen. You and I both know that there are "kooks" out there just waiting to eliminate "hillary" or "Obama" just to be a part of history for knocking the first Lady , or the first black out of this life. It's really sad that this is the type of world we've created.
Thanks Maddog! Yes I vividly remember the 60's assassinations just so someone could have their 15 minutes of fame, pretty sure things like that still churn around in deranged minds.

Media has hypnotized everyone to receiving their regurgitated pablum every night as if the truth ... which no one wants to hear because it doesn't make any of the movie star evening tabloids. Don't think Ron Paul would get a passing mention on one of those.

I wonder if the world has been like this or is light being shined in dark corners and we're finally seeing what's been hidden.
