"Amit Goswami: Scientific Proof of the Existence of God

Interesting article about conclusions drawn by a well respected physicist.  Not suggesting anyone change their particular beliefs, just food for thought.

".......... Goswami is convinced, along with a number of others who subscribe to the same view, that the universe, in order to exist, requires a conscious sentient being to be aware of it. Without an observer, he claims, it only exists as a possibility. And as they say in the world of science, Goswami has done his math. Marshalling evidence from recent research in cognitive psychology, biology, parapsychology and quantum physics, and leaning heavily on the ancient mystical traditions of the world, Goswami is building a case for a new paradigm that he calls "monistic idealism," the view that consciousness, not matter, is the foundation of everything that is. ..........."

they say a million people die a day, that would take some computer at the pearly gates,to keep track of everyone!
Thanks Scorpio!
The creationists believe that the universe was created, obviously, by a creator. There is a problem with this notion because if you ask who created the creator, somehow the creator is not held accountable to the question because he is outside the realm of time, or something to that effect.

Personally, I don't buy it.

Having said that, I do believe in spirituality, as I've said many times before, but for any one group or person to say with absolute certanty that he or she, or they, know that he definitely exists, what God is, and know for sure his way of thinking, his rules and regulations, and what he expects from us, without revealing anything discernable over thousands of years, is pathetic to me.

I haven't read the link you provided, but I will after I finish writing this. I have, and always have been open minded to everything. That's why I came to my conclusions about God in the first place, not because someone wroted it in one book, or proclaimed it as the end all of truth.

I've read and studied many so called "Truths", both scientific and religous, and made my mind up after filtering through all of them, using both intuition and most of all common sense.

This won't be the end all to my conclusions, as Iam sure there is plenty more to learn in the future.
Thanks Pac! There are several interesting twists and turns to the article in an effort to explain what force travels faster than light. I'm spiritual ... not particularly religious ... but do love to read scientific conclusions which seem to fill in missing pieces as to how things really work.
Well I just read the interview in full believe it or not. My eyes are sore, but well worth the read.

Actually, the only difference between in his belief and mine is that whether god exists solely on unexplained issues such as quantum physics. Richard Dawkins has clearly pointed out that just because he can't disprove the existence of God, doesen't mean that God exists. In other words,(as Goswami likes to say over and over, in his interview), other variables still exist, and any of those variables in the equation can be true, so no one thing is absolute.

I did find the interview very interesting because it parallels a lot of the same kind of mindset i have. Quantum physics is an observation before the event, and that event won't come to fruition until the observer witnesses the event unfolding. Like the cat in the box experiment.

Another similarity between his way of thinking is awareness. I've always put a lot of credence in awareness, but again, I don't contribute this entirely as proof of a God head. His version of awareness is based on the fact that after there is a sentient being observing the material universe, then there is reality, or as he called it causality, which I learned while i was working at Baruch college in N.Y.C at the book store. I got all my theology lessons 101 from break time reading those nice books for free...lol Causality after conciousness.

To an extent, Einstein had it right. The observer was always the main character in the novel. Only when an observation takes place, there can be relativeness. I always had this argument with people who couldn't grasp the idea of the tree falling in the forest. If there was no one there to see, and hear it falling, well... all it made was vibrations that no one was there to take advantage of. Unless there is an observer, reality is just an idea. I had a hard time, as I was reading the interview, to agree with that awarness, even though it made sense to me, but as I read it, it kind of makes sense, especially when you intergrate it with Einsteirn's theory of realtivity. It's the observer who observes. If there is no one there to observe, then it was just atoms doing their thing. maybe a white noise. But nothing contruct as the human brain is able to piece together.

Qunatum physics is a wonderful thing to learn. It shows us humans that not everything we see, hear, or touch, can be taken for granted. I enjoyed the read, and thank you Konane for showing us this enlightened view of this world by a very well spoken individual. He likens the ilk of Deepak chopra. I like his teachings too.

May the universe reveal itself to everything it's created.

I once heard a quote....

"The universe created humans, so it can look back on itself." Very profound.
Thank you Pac for reading it through, also for very informed commentary! Read or listen to some of the Kryon channelings for interesting info on how the universe works. They're usually in MP3 format before transcribed so listening may be better for you. Very interesting stuff in addition to spiritual messages which will stretch anyone's mind. Per usual I read, file it away read more and see what seems to balance.
everyone will probably have to wait until they die,to find out what really happens to us.a person once tols me that our religious leaders once made it all up,so people would not be afraid to die, around age 30 then.why are there so many different religions, and don't agree on much at all.
Thanks Scorpio! If you could answer that question you would probably have the solution to world peace. Have read each religion has part of the big picture but not all of it. Could be a lot of truth in that.

Scorpio...watch this movie. It will change your belief system that's been ingrained all your life.

The movie will show how all religions were based on the Zodiac signs. All the way back to Egyptian rituals, such as Horus, the sun god.
Physicists have yet been able to create or destroy matter and energy. Matter is created by energy and is transformed to energy in its destruction process.

So the axiom that "matter/energy cannot be created or destroyed" is still true and leaves us one conclusion: Existence did not have a beginning and it will not have an end. That means "God" or our "creator" is the sum of all energy which is infinite in time.

As Dr. Spock would say, "It's logical".
Rick, Why is is that when people can't explain something or understand how something works, automatically is assumed that it is God who put them there? It's like a default system that points to god whenever humans lack the vision to know for sure.

How de we know that energy was here all the time? Maybe it was here, and it ain't going away, but that in itself proves nothing.

To me, an intelligent omnipotent being wouldn't allow 87 different religions fighting over each other as to who is right. At some point, the creator would stop this nonsense and reveal himself to humans, and straighten the thing out, but he just sits around like a little kid with a magnifying glass on a hill of ants, watching the misery of his supposed children, doing absolutley nothing.

Better yet, if theis creator was all knowing, wouldn't it be better for him to reaveal himself before creation? Just let everyone of his children know from the get go about the plan, and tell them to have a free choice in deciding wjether they want to stick around doing it his way, or hit the highway.
That seems like a much better plan than beating around the bush with vague signals of his pupose. Something is not right, and there too many red flags.

If you are a father, and you tell your son to not put his on on a hot stove, you tell him outright, son...you'll burn your hand if you do this. But you'll never beat around the bush sending him vague signs and symbols, letting him guess what you're trying to convey to him. You won't write confusing messages on a piece of paper from accross the country, never showing your face, but demanding that he first unscrambles your clues, and finds the hidden solution once he de scrambles the code about not putting his hand on the hot stove. No, you stand next to him, look him in the eye, and tell him right then and there.

I believe that during the time of Homoerectus, aliens came down and fused our genes with theirs. That's why there are monkeys still in existence. The aliens are starting to come back, and shortly will reveal themselves to the whole world despite the governments not wanting it so. Afterall they are our relatives.
Thanks Rick G! Thanks Pac! Began watching Zeitgeist Movie you linked to below. Interesting stuff, will watch all probably today.

Pac said "when people can't explain something"   have read it explained that we humans don't realize the extent of our own power and ability to create things, change things and those who would take our power surely don't want us to come to that realization. Worked before the internet, not working now though.

Have also read that here in 3-D which has been the way things are seen as being linear, our connection to higher dimensions which are a part of us has been hidden from our awareness.

Have also read we live in duality where neutral energy around us can be used by our own intent to do good or evil is the "test" we've chosen to participate in on earth. Free choice is the test, we decide for ourselves. Also read the greatest good, the most unimaginable evil is created by human intent which puts responsibility squarely on our shoulders, rather than being like puppets controlled by a hidden puppetmaster.

Great discussion, please keep your comments coming!
Zeitgeist Movie   ... watched the whole thing and just as I've been thinking world banking money insatiable profit$$$$$$$ fueling the whole $$$$$cenario. Government within our government ... gorilla in the room that's been doing what it wants to up to now.

I simply can not fathom so much evil that places profit over innocent human life where people are treated like objects. Also my bet is all the peace meditations taking place world wide are sending chills up their spines. No more war, no more profit. Waaaah, poor them.

Also love the part about all the celeb filler on tv designed to pull people into trivia so they won't think and get in the way. Same with news, talking heads designed to entertain and distract while the machine moves on toward one world government.

Also since Bush gets blamed for everything ... believe I remembered them saying the merger treaty for the North American Union combining the US with Canada and Mexico was signed in 1994 which was during the Clinton presidency.
and the masses seem to disagree, the more they are educated.a dictators'job is easy, just keep the people illiterate!
pcattack05,i downloaded the movie, but when i go to listen to it,i get only music, why?
Keep listening there's dialogue just not at the beginning.
thanks konane.
You're welcome, Scorpio!
however,i'm not surprised by the egyptian links to christianity.also the jews do not believe in the soul.
Very interesting discussion. I agree with Goswami that "consciousness, not matter, is the foundation of everything that is". It is the connecting energy to everything. Some would say consciousness originates with God. I would say it IS God....you and I and the sand grain on the beach are all part of God. Once everyone realizes that and lives that way, then you have a true religion.
Sage comments Rick G. Agree with you completely. I'd add the element of unconditional love [perhaps an aspect of consciousness] which I believe is one the "forces" which holds the universe together draws good to us. We're a part of the universe, the universe is a part of us and we're all interconnected. Only problem is we don't realize that in day to day life of only 3 dimensions on earth. However that's been changing rapidly since the harmonic convergence in 1987.
