""I Botched the Joke?!?!?!

Here is the email I am submitting to Senator Kerry:

I am incensed about your remarks today concerning my and my fellow enlisted soldiers' intelligence. I also read your follow-up explanation that it was a failed joke - I hope you also do not believe the rest of the country as stupid as me, because I have a really hard time believing it was a joke after being able to view the speech (yes, in context) online.

I have a BA from Columbia University. Maybe you have heard of it. I would be willing any day of the week to put my French language skills up agaist yours. I also attended a certain private high school in Exeter, NH. Maybe you have heard of that one? I enlisted in the US Army after 9/11. Am I stupid?

I went to basic combat training with a guy who has a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He is, literally, a rocket scientist. He also enlisted soldier in the US Army after 9/11. Is he stupid?

I currently work with another guy who has a Masters in Philosophy and was very close to finishing his dissertation for his PhD. He, by the way, is very liberal politically, but I would be willing to bet that in an exercise of debate, with him taking the other side, he would talk circles around you, or any of your 99 colleagues in Washington. He enlisted in the US Army after 9/11 out of patriotism. Is he stupid?

College degrees in my company in the enlisted ranks outnumber those in the officers'. We obviously did our homework and worked hard during our years in school. Maybe you are out of touch and do not realize just how much things have changed since you were in the military (that is if, in fact, you had an idea about it then). I think you may get too many of your ideas from movies and television, because it is painfully obvious that you have not ever taken the time to really speak with an enlisted member of today's US military.

To my relatives and friends in MA: Please, please, please do not send this elitist buffoon back to Washington the next time he is up for re-election. This is not the first time he has made disparaging remarks about the military, or the general population at large. Listen to his speeches and he will always mention the "working class". We don't have classes in the United States. Our ancestors left Europe because they hated the fact that they were part of the toiling masses which supported a small, elite aristocracy who ran everything. In America, anyone can work hard, become successful and live the good life - ANYONE. Bill Gates dropped out of college to write MS-DOS, the precursor to Windows. Wal-Mart started as one family-run store in Arkansas. Nike was a track coach's dream in Oregon. Next time you hear a John Kerry speech, listen closely and when he refers to "working class Americans" it will be in the 3rd person. That is because he does not see himself as part of that group - he sees himself as part of a small, elite aristocracy."

Oh my ...... that is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time!!!!! If that doesn't just say it all!! :-D
This morning I heard and searched that Kerry's IQ is lower than President Bush's, that his SAT scores were lower than the President, that his grades were lower so if liberals think the President is an idiot, that makes Kerry have the IQ of a brain-stem. ;-) But boy-toys don't have to be smart, they just have to look good and stand when summoned.
Be sure to also compare the intelligence and school records of Al Gore and George Bush, because you'll see a parallel there. The concept of characterizing all conservatives as "stupid" has been in the liberal playbook for a long time.

For a fantastic analysis of this liberal ploy, see Ann Coulter's book, "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right". Chapter 7 is titled, "The Joy of Arguing with Liberals: 'You're Stupid!'". The first sentence of the chapter is, "If liberals were prevented from ever again calling Republicans dumb, they would be robbed of half their arguments." The rest of the chapter is an incredible dissection of the subject. Ann Coulter is an excellent writer -- VERY well-researched -- and that particular book is one of her best. (I also thoroughly enjoyed "Treason", which completely debunks McCarthyism, and analyzes how the same tactics are used by liberals today.)
Ann Coulter is one of my favorite writers, but haven't had time to dig into any books lately. Yes, she is smart and can address the subject for what it is better than anyone around. No wonder liberals heads start spinning and start spitting pea soup at the mention of her name. Love it!!
and you forgot - bush has something else kerry doesn't - bush was a cheerleader.
At least he knows how to smile without his face cracking.
Biglizards take on things, my understanding this person is a professional writer often referred to by Powerline:

Thanks to commenter Jonathan Haas, I have now viewed the comment in context (click on John Kerry Speaks a Rally In Pasadena, sic)... and it is now plain to me that it was, in fact, a botched joke.

However, it is also quite clear that Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA, 100%) said exactly what he meant to say. The reason he resisted apologizing for so long is that the "joke" was just what he said: if you don't study, you'll end up stuck in Iraq, as one of those lazy, dumb soldiers.

The opening is a series of three jokes, of which this is the third: but he says it smoothly, not stumbling; he does indeed have a smirk as he says it; and the audience laughs. There is nothing whatsoever to indicate, in even the faintest degree, that he meant to say "you end up getting us stuck in Iraq," referring to that lazy, dumb President Bush (who got at least a good a GPA at Yale and Harvard as did Kerry). Not at all.

This ends the discussion as far as I'm concerned. He was mocking the troops for being lazy and stupid; end of story, so far as this lizard is concerned."

Uh, Microsoft did 'write' MS-DOS, but he bought the precursor to MS-DOS from another guy that lived in the same town he did, it was called QDOS, and was roughly copied from CP/M, they had to change it enough so it didn't resemble CP/M (to avoid lawsuits).
Even though they 'wrote' MS-DOS, they didn't 'really' WRITE MS-DOS...
Thanks Guesser, that's what my son explained to me but not in the detail you did, also that he likes earlier DOS better than MSDOS. He's not a Gates fan. I'm like a deer in headlights if looking at a screen with any type DOS command.
