"Meet the New Speaker

Live links.  Just a little background.

"Meet the New Speaker

By Joseph Farah

Source World Net Daily.com

"Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the House minority leader certain to become the next speaker of the House, served for years on the executive committee of the socialist-leaning Progressive Caucus, a bloc of about 60 votes or nearly 30 percent of the minority vote in the lower chamber.

Until 1999, the website of the Progressive Caucus was hosted by the Democratic Socialists of America. Following an expose of the link between the two organizations in WorldNetDaily, (   http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=14542  )    the Progressive Caucus established its own website under the auspices of Congress. Another officer of the Progressive Caucus, and one of its guiding lights, is avowed socialist Rep. Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent.

The Democratic Socialists of America's chief organizing goal is to work within the Democratic Party and remove the stigma attached to "socialism" in the eyes of most Americans.

(Story continues below)

"Stress our Democratic Party strategy and electoral work," explains an organizing document of the DSA. "The Democratic Party is something the public understands, and association with it takes the edge off. Stressing our Democratic Party work will establish some distance from the radical subculture and help integrate you to the milieu of the young liberals."

Nevertheless, the goal of the Democratic Socialists of America has never been deeply hidden. Prior to the cleanup of its website in 1999, the DSA included a song list featuring "The Internationale," the worldwide anthem of communism and socialism. Another song on the site was "Red Revolution" sung to the tune of "Red Robin." The lyrics went: "When the Red Revolution brings its solution along, along, there'll be no more lootin' when we start shootin' that Wall Street throng. ..." Another song removed after WorldNetDaily's expose was "Are You Sleeping, Bourgeoisie?" The lyrics went: "Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping? Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie. And when the revolution comes, We'll kill you all with knives and guns, Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie."

In the last several years, the Progressive Caucus has been careful to moderate its image for mainstream consumption.

"The members of the Progressive Caucus share a common belief in the principles of social and economic justice, non-discrimination and tolerance in America and in our relationships with other countries," the group's statement of purpose explains.

Most of the members of the Progressive Caucus, including Pelosi, opposed authorizing the war on Iraq.

Pelosi represents a liberal congressional district, taking in most of San Francisco. Her votes against the resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq and in support of such domestic initiatives as needle exchange programs for AIDS sufferers may not be far out of step with her district constituency. But some suggest the nation's pulse may be another matter.

Pelosi was 47 before she won her first election, after raising five children with her businessman husband, Paul. But she has been involved in politics all her life. Her father was a New Deal congressman from Maryland and later the mayor of Baltimore. Her brother also served as Baltimore's mayor. She was hand-picked to run for Congress by the dying Rep. Sala Burton, whose seat Pelosi won in a special election in 1987.

She has never lost an election. "

Konane,

Many people will read that and see nothing wrong with it. The words "Communism" and "Socialism" are meaningless words to many Americans. They don't understand what all the fuss is about, and their eyes glaze over when they read how "Nancy Pelosi ... served for years on the executive committee of the socialist-leaning Progressive Caucus." They think "oh god, another right-wing nut job trying to attack a Democrat."

If these people would spend some time with people who lived under a socialist government, for example Poland under Soviet rule, they would possibly be able to grasp what Socialism is, and hopefully they could connect the dots between what is happening now and the end result of an oppressive Socialist government.

These people would be able to see how everything they claim is part of a right-wing "police state" is actually protection against a true Socialist police state. They would not see businesses as the enemy, but as the friend of society that keeps us all safe from overly-oppressive police-state government.

There is oh-so-much more to this, but it requires EFFORT and COMMITMENT in order to understand, and intellectual honesty to be able to come out from the warm blanket of comfort provided by the popular media and Hollywood establishment. It takes courage to say what is right, rather than what is popular. It takes strength of character to take a position that will probably always put you out of popular circles.

Many people would rather believe and espouse what they are told to, rather than risk becoming unpopular, but I could not live with myself if I did that.
The Wal-Mart page under Democratic Socialists of America was very interesting. WAL-MART: A TEMPLATE FOR 21ST CENTURY CAPITALISM? Very long - going back to read it completely later.

Especially this statements - Wal-Mart, of course, is red state to the core. It is a Republican firm, certainly among the top managerial ranks, whose political contributions in 2000 and 2004 flowed almost exclusively to George Bush and his party.

And - Walton frequently played fast and loose with minimum wage laws and overtime standards. and Low pay generated high turnover and high turnover insured that few employees could take advantage of the profit sharing plan, which required two years to qualify.

The article is a way more deeper than that but those things really stood out.
I've offered this before so offer it again for anyone who cares to read it:

"Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party"     http://ninecommentaries.com/

When we're all up to our eyeballs in the police state created through constitutional rights being taken away, such as free speech then perhaps they'll remember some of these blog entries and say "'Gee they were right, why didn't I pay more attention??????"

For me a conservative agenda is not and never been about morality or religion, it's been about preserving freedoms granted by our Constitution, lower taxes and even implementation of Fair Tax, less government and its interference in our private lives, protection from terrorist attacks and closing the borders to prevent our nation from being overrun by illegal invaders who are living off our social services and not paying into the tax system and further granted benefits our own citizens are denied.
Todd, you are right - a lot of people won't see anything wrong with the words "Communism" and "Socialism" when used along with Nancy Pelosi because they have a deaf ear to Repubs right now. Republicans have always cried and whined those two words when they lose. We haven't been kicked in the head by a mule.

But there is one thing for sure - the American people knows what "Republican" means and don't want it anymore and is sick and tired of being overly-oppressed by the kind of government it created while in control for 12 years.
Tenaj,

You're in dream-land, but you might as well enjoy it while youre there. Democrats have a slim margin in the house, and even if they get both VA and MT in the Senate, they will be over the top by a single seat. They had modest pickups, with only a net gain of 27 seats. If you want to compare that to the Republican take-ver in 1994, that was a 50+ seat takeover. The country is still divided in half.

Your personal decision to ignore Socialism is your own choice, but to say that you speak for the populace is conceited and wrong. You speak for you and those like you. You think you know everything, but you don't.
I don't know everything and anybody with any intelligence knows that they know nothing but there is one thing I do know, the pubs are licking their wounds.LOL!
Yes, I'm sure you and the "crats" are happily gloating, because "crats" are poor winners as well as poor losers. Case in point: do you see any "pubs" hiring teams of lawyers to dispute every close election, the way the disgraceful "crats" did in 2004, 2002, and 1998? The "pubs" simply go back and do a little self-evaluation ("licking their wounds", as you say) and then go on with life, hopefully winning the next time -- in a graceful manner.

It's not a matter of IF the "pubs" are correct -- they are "right" after all -- it's a matter of whether they did a good enough job of not letting The New York Times, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC trash them too much. I have to admit, the news media ran an excellent campaign this year, but we'll figure out a way to beat 'em next time!
Bloggers will do it. Even Gannett (sp) is looking to hire bloggers to do some of the reporting. The pajamas media wins again!!!
but we'll figure out a way to beat 'em next time!
____________________________________________

The "pubs" always have and I don't doubt it one bit - but we are the winners now. Thanks Todd and Konane - you guys have been good opponents and I hope the dems never let their guards down because "pubs" are vindictive.

When you're dealing with a Democratic party now hijacked by Marxist snakes in the grass you can't be too careful or proactive.
