Kamala Harris announced that she has joined the ranks of socialists like Bernie Sanders and Adolf Hitler, who have all now advocated for a single-payer (read, government controlled) healthcare system. Harris offered her support at a recent town hall meeting.
When an opportunity to establish a illogical, massive government system that would ruin the individual liberty, innovation, and quality of life for American citizens is discovered, democrats become glassy-eyed and salivate like unholy fiends from the underworld. Kamala Harris, one of the democrat hopefuls for 2020, announced that she supported Bernie Sander’s “single-payer” healthcare idea at a recent town hall meeting. The move would basically turn Medicare into socialized healthcare.
The statement shows just how out-of-touch with reality these elitists really are, and it illuminates their true liberal objective, which is the destruction of a free market system. Undeniably, there are a few problems with this Hitler-like scheme.
The dismal quality of other country’s similar socialist healthcare systems, the fact that republicans control congress (and hopefully they won’t demonstrate further treachery), and the basic inequality and destruction of the free market are the major reasons why intelligent people throughout the country oppose such lunacy.
Harris supports Sander’s upcoming legislation that aims to put all Americans on Medicare. The system doesn’t work too efficiently now, but she seems to think that a universal “Medicaid” plan would be good for the country.
A 2014 study produced by Cal Thomas highlighted the poor quality medical people receive when the government operates as a third-party buyer for healthcare. The National Health Service in that country determines which medicines can be used (there’s no choice for the individual), and they only approve drugs that would be a “benefit to wider society.”
That means that people with HIV could not benefit from new drug discoveries. Plus, there’s absolutely no incentive for scientists and researchers to develop any new treatments. America leads the world in biomedical research, dwarfing all other countries that have socialized medicine. Under government controlled healthcare, that innovation would disappear.
The study also found that there are only 2.71 doctors for every 1,000 patients in England. Basically, that would mean a three year wait for an appointment, so people end up in emergency rooms. Unlike what Obama claimed, visits to the ER are extremely frequent. The BBC reports, “nearly 12,000 people made more than 10 visits to the same unit in 2012-13. A small number of those — just over 150 — attended more than 50 times.”
Harris ignores the terrible healthcare statistics from socialist countries and basically is just pandering to a small percentage of the population who want to return to the slave mentality and life.
This wretched situation is generated because the government is essentially a third-party payer, and it doesn’t work. Bob McEwen explains it perfectly. When a buyer doesn’t use a product or spend his own money to purchase it, he doesn’t care about quality or cost. That means that the free market economy, which is the absolute best system for ensuring individual equality, is destroyed.
Consider an individual who buys something for himself. Both price and quality matter. Consumers hunt for the business that offer the lowest cost and the highest performance. That’s a first-party payer. When someone buys something for someone else, that’s a second-party payer. The only thing that matters is price, because the buyer isn’t going to use it.
When the government becomes the third-party “single-payer,” the costs increase, fraud increases, and service declines at a remarkable rate. For proof, look that the VA. It is a single payer healthcare system that is lousy with cheating, stealing, and poor quality care.
Rick Nolan from Minnesota also advocated for the socialist system of medicine. Despite the fact that it doesn’t work and it is bad for the people, these elitists just want votes from the 28 percent of Americans who support it.
Democrats ignore the truth. They pander to people who want to be taken care of by the government, like their slave master predecessors. Universal healthcare is not a right. When people have a choice, businesses compete. By removing that selection, there is no longer any incentive to achieve.
Laser-eye surgery is a perfect example. The costs have been reduced by over 25 percent because of the free market. When businesses compete for clients, customers reap improved quality for a lower price.
Nobel Prize winning Milton Friedman said it perfectly, “A society that puts equality—in the sense of equality of outcome—ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom.… On the other hand, a society that puts freedom first will, as a happy by-product, end up with both greater freedom and greater equality.”
He’s absolutely right. History shows that although emancipation freed slaves in the U.S., if it hadn’t been for entrepreneurs, the move to the civil rights act would have taken much longer. Of course, democrats opposed both.
