Something interesting on my vacation this last week to Lac du Flambeau

Everything was great: weather, lakes, woods, sun.

We stopped by our land on Tuesday to check on a tree we planted there, doing well.

After my son and I went into the woods, we check each other over for ticks; didn't find any.

Later that night though I started to have this persistent headache and it lasted into the next day.

I thought it might be from the sun when we were swimming at the lake.

After while, later in the day that Wednesday, it started to get better.

Last night I was rubbing the right side of my waist and noticed something, A Tick!!

Shees, thought we checked, but there it was, and attached.

Must have been there a few days because it looks like it was a little full.

That might explain the headache I had, could have been infected with something, but thanks to my diverse genetic code and well worked immune system, nothing else but a headache... Whah, take that!

Oh-yeah... lyme stuff too.

I lived up there for a bit and visited during that time frame when lyme was just coming out.

Can't say of any other related tick incidents that might be lyme related beside this one.

However, I have been sick before with extreme flu symptoms... oh-man, thought I was going to die, but Nope, Here I AM!

It was about that time when West Nile were just starting to show up.

I remember traveling out east for business during that time too and seeing the reports on it.

Both my wife and I had it, but what's real interesting is our boys never got sick... chalk one up for genetic diversity in their favor.

you still need to get to a medical treatment place and get anti biotics,or you could get crippling arthritis later on.i had to in mid western n.j..a lot of deer ticks there.

Nah.

I could have gotten HIV from my first girlfriend, but didn't... not to mention the many guys I've been with, but didn't.

I've pulled a million ticks off me, my wife and all the dogs, never had a problem. We don't have Lyme Disease in TN though.
They say to watch for red rings like a target around the bite, that's the sign of Lyme Disease. There's no itch.

Chiggers are the things that drive us nuts around here. You don't know what itching is 'til you've got a few of them things laying eggs in your legs. And you can't see the sons a b*tches.

yeah,i got the bulls eye,then anti biotics.itches sometimes,not always,doesn't go away though.i stayed in the blue ridge mts once,down to the cherokee casino at night.had picture taken with some indian,totem pole.i think more lyme disease in high deer populated northeast area.

Ain't been to the Lac Du Flambeau area in years. Used to go up there Muskie Fishing. Still got a jacket from a little store up there called Grizzly Bill's. Gotta be 30 years ago or so.

Lots of stuff different, mostly in or near town.

Couple years ago I was being tested for Lukemia, they found I had west nile antibodies, I never got sick.
For some reason I don't get poison ivy either.
Any way, they did find I was anemic, had to have an iron shot, trust me, one of the most painful shots you'll get. Iron pills, 3 times a day.....was not fun.
