If we take into account the 8 years before President Obama, then we will have a better prospective. All that has happened to our economy took more than 8 years. There are too many factors that contributed to the economic slow down. There is no one factor that caused it. There is more than enough blame to go around.

Wrong again speedo, the economy went south when the banks lost $800 billion and the Treasury drained itself trying to make up for the losses.

Its NOT "a factor" dip wad. The banks lost the money overnight electronically. I was sitting at my computer screen that night and watched the Futures markets go limit down and CLOSE. By the time YOU knew anything about it the next morning the pres. had already committed OUR treasury funds and ordered the fed to drop rates by a point and the markets (and banks) had re-opened. Never mind, just put your head back in the sand dip wad.

It is complex I think the spark was the affordable housing push when anyone and anything could get a mortgage it eventually began to collapse in an economic maelstrom 18 yr toilet flush of the US financial system.
