Air Force One is not a cheap aircraft. It costs a lot of money to maintain, but for security reasons this is the way Presidents fly now. No expense is spared when the safety and well-being of the POTUS at risk. The amount of money spent is nothing compared to financing two wars at the same time.

I might also add that it would be a lot safer and considerate for our POTUS if he/they didn't travel so much and take so many vacations to such dangerous places.

Some repubs and tea partiers will find anything to complain about, but never once do they offer any solutions. President Obama will be POTUS until 2016. The American people has elected President Obama twice, and they have rejected the repubs and tea party presidential hopefuls twice. So keep complaining if it makes you feel better.

Can lilluv or Lil Speedy tell us what Obama solved by going to Africa and spending more than $60,000,000.00 ($60 million) tax payer dollars?   What did he produce or do for the United States of America? Please enlighten us. What we get for our money???? Was that Obama's stash? Where did he get that money? What did the American people get for their investment of $60 million??????? Waiting.................................

Since you're the one doing the complaining, you explain to the people on this thread why is it not important to maintain relations with Africa or visit Africa.

This is a very smart move by President Obama. With a population of over 700 million one cannot ignore what exports to this country will do for our economy. Also the U.S. relies heavily on the African Continent for petroleum and
strategic minerals.

Comment #10, is not an answer, you ask a an unrelated question. And comment #11 another non answer to a direct question. Africa is comprised of countries, we do not deal with Africa as a continent. You have never been able to answer honestly, because if you did you would have to agree, it was huge waste of taxpayer money and you just can't ever be wrong. Admit it it was a waste of taxpayer money, we weren't breaking off relations with any African country and we don't need POTUS to go there so they'll keep buying or selling anything to us.

You just don't comprehend...let me break it down even farther. And yes we do deal with Africa as a continent. It's absurd to think otherwise. Regardless of the name of the country, it is still in Africa. Let me explain to you why the US need Africa, then maybe you will understand.                                                                           

Africa's minerals have an extremely important impact on American industry and on U.S. defense capabilities. Without just a few critical minerals, such as cobalt, manganese, chromium, and platinum, it would be virtually impossible to produce many defense products such as jet engine, missile components, electronic components, iron, steel, etc. The severity of the problem becomes more apparent when the location of these minerals is considered. Virtually all the worlds’ reserves of some strategic minerals lie either in the Soviet Union or in Africa. Between them, these two areas contain over 90% of the world’s platinum, manganese and chromium ores.

Finally, since the hostility of the Soviet Union towards the United States is deep rooted and expected to continue in the future, the supply of these minerals from Africa takes on an added significance. Therefore it is prudent for any president to travel to Africa to protect our interest in that continent. And YES it was worth the expense to go to Africa. If you don’t understand now, it’s only because you don’t want to understand. Either way, I’m moving on.

So what did we get for $60,000,000.00+ ? Still no answer. It appears to me you are more interested in the exploitation of the African people and their resources more than anything else.

Without Africa's minerals, we will not be able to maintain our defense capability. You call it exploitation, I call it an investment in the national security of America. Afterall, America has a history of exploitation. I guess you forgot about the Native Americans, Slaves, and immigrants. So don't act like you are so concerned about Africa because we both know that you hate Blacks. Plain and simple.

So the question about $60,000,000.00+ is moot if we don't have the minerals that we need to build and maintain our weapon systems.

Still can't admit it was a waste of money, and back to playing the race card. Is Egypt in Africa? Now I'm going to change the subject like you do. Why didn"t Obama go to Egypt? A civil war in Egypt could close the Suez. That would create severe trade issues, please tell me why for $60,000,000 he didn't go straigthen out that little problem for us and the rest of the world.
