Firefox 3.0 is here - no need to wait

I think that "world record" thing is pretty dumb.  I guess if they're trying to make themselves look important it will be all smiles, but really, who cares?

If you want the Firefox 3 browser without all the fanfare, here's the direct link:

http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&%20lang=en-US

Note: this is the official 3.0 release, not a beta or release candidate.

Important: Don't forget, if you only want to use Firefox as a secondary browser — not your primary web browser — you must un-check the checkbox during install that states "Use Firefox as my default web browser".

  • Also, I couldn't even get on the "spread firefox" site. I'm guessing a lot of people are trying to download from there.

  • I couldn't see it either after 10:00 AM Pacific Time. The whole idea is pretty dumb if you ask me. It's worse than a virus attack on the Internet. This stupid record thing is slowing down the whole Internet -- and for what? So that Mozilla can claim that a lot of people download a piece of software on one day? Dumb.

  • Thank you also for the direct link AND for everything else you do for us here, Todd.
Just as soon as I got home from work this afternoon, I immediately used your posted link. Accessing that web address, the download, and the install.... all proceeded super fast. I'm enjoying version 3.0 at this very moment.
And.....after giving it a little thought, I've gotta agree with your assessment of the whole "world record" thing.
At the same time, I'm sending big thanks out to all those folks responsible for developing and providing this latest Firefox browser for everyone, at no cost to the consumer whatsoever. :)
