The Home Computer

This picture is from a 1954 Popular Mechanics Magazine.  Check out the caption.

  • they got half of it right. the technology was not invented in 1954, but they got the size, as well as the use of a steering wheel, wrong.

  • I love the steering wheel...Is that the conception of a mouse? Can you imagine what the wife would say when you had this thing delivered to your home and it took a team of 5 technicians and a week's time to install it? That rolling pin would be broken on your skull and a divorce would be sure to follow.
    Good one Todd!

  • I may have see this picture before cool looks like mine LOL just kidding. I remember seeing pictures of the first computers that MIT designed and they took three whole buildings to house the darn thing. It's almost unfathomable that we came this far technology wise in the last 50 years or so. And ironically most of our superconductive technology came after the supposed crash in area 51. hummm i wonder!
