Google Chrome 4.0 Released

For those who use Google Chrome for their Web browser, a new version has just been released.

You can install the latest release by clicking the Wrench icon in Chrome, and then selecting "About" from the menu.  The message at the bottom of the box will indicate that a new release is available, and you just need to click the Update button.

If you're not sure what a Web browser is, I included a new video in the Help forum to show you.

  • I keep seeing ads for Google Chrome. I am using IE 8, but it has problems! Todd, what do you think of Chrome?

  • I am now using Google Chrome. I do like it.

  • Just saw your question now. I like it because (a) it's the fastest Web browser by far, and (b) it is very simple - not a lot of bell and whistles clogging up the works.

It also starts up very fast, and I love the way tabs can be dragged from one window to another (or to its own window).

The new version 4.0 features bookmark synchronizing, which is fabulous for anyone using more than one computer.

  • I like it, but have found it has some drawbacks. When looking at the bookmarks, IE8 would "hold' your place for the last bookmark you selected. I really like that. Also when I post my predictions in the forum, Chrome does strange things with the paste I do from Notepad. I find I need to use IE8 for posting using copy & paste. No big deal.

  • I agree on both counts. IE is simply the best when it comes to the text editor and copy/paste. WebKit (on which Chrome is based) is the buggiest for the text editor. I really wish they would fix that.

  • Also, when you click on "back" using IE8 it looks for the updated page. Chrome does not...it uses the cache version.
