Biggest Mandela effect of all time

I've been dealing with the "Mandela Effect" for a couple of years now, and this is the mother of them all. If you don't know what the "Mandela Effect" is, I'll post the definition here for you. Some believe that CERN is responsible for this. 2009? Coincidence?

Origins of the Mandela Effect

The term "Mandela Effect" began when it was first coined in 2009 by Fiona Broome when she published a website detailing her observance of the phenomenon. Broome was at a conference talking with other people about how she remembered the tragedy of former South African president Nelson Mandela's death in a South African prison in the 1980s.

However, Nelson Mandela did not die in the 1980s in a prison—he passed away in 2013. As Broome began to talk to other people about her memories, she learned that she was not alone. Others remembered seeing news coverage of his death as well as a speech by his widow.

Broome was shocked that such a large mass of people could remember the same identical event in such detail when it never happened. Encouraged by her book publisher, she began a website to discuss what she called the Mandela Effect and other incidents like it.

I grew up in NYC, and I distinctly remember lady liberty holding the torch in her left hand, but apparently now, the torch is in her right hand, just google pictures of her and she is holding the torch in her right hand....BUT, the video shows plenty of credible pictures showing her holding the torch in her left hand.

There are many pictures of the statue while under construction including one showing people in Paris standing on the torch that was clearly being held by a right hand. And another picture clearly show the the left hand holding a law book.

Interesting that the clip shows the torch in the left hand in a poster from the Planet of the Apes, but in the right hand in the actual movie. Just shows how weird the Mandela Effect can be.

As for showing the torch in the left hand in the movie posters, I would say it's more for illustrative purposes than anything else. We normally read things from left to right and start at the left border of the page. By putting the torch in the left hand, they can have it on the right border of the poster which allows more room for the photo of the main character, the movie title or whatever. Also that way, we are not reading from the middle of the poster over. I could be completely wrong, but that would be my guess. Here is an old photo.
