All Charges Dropped Against Alec Baldwin In Rust Shooting

https://abcnews.go.com/US/charges-dropped-alec-baldwin-fatal-set-rust-shooting/story?i

Comments:
What a fake cover  up Hollywood scenario-

I t was just a matter of time.....
* Alec did " NOT load the gun." You an actor on a movie set, you act,  it's not your responsibility to cover your own A** in asking " is this thing loaded, or is the horse l am going to ride brown on?" As painful as it may be for the surviving family relatives, accidents do happen.

* Some fools are acting as though Alec said to himself " l think l will shoot the camera person, cause l know l have live ammo in this gun just to experience the sensation for once in my life. "
" horse l am going to ride broken in?"
Remember NM is a Democrat state and  There is you problem in a nutshell  ''quid pro quo'and the left would not find one of their dears guilty.
Well weasel, you horses azz, first thing you do when handed a weapon is check to see if it's loaded, you don't ask, you CHECK THE DAMM THING< ALWAYS AND I MEAN ALWAYS.
You don't know anything about guns or gun safety, always always always check to see if the gun is loaded.
I believe it was an accident, but I believe he needs to held accountable for his lack of care handling a firearm., remember NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW, ignorance is not excuse.
Trust but verify.

When Baldwin was handed the gun and was told it was safe how hard would it have been for him to say "show me how you know that"?   Baldwin knows guns are potentially dangerous but it didn't even dawn on him to ask the expert to show him why the gun was safe?  That, at the very least, should have been some form of negligence.

Baldwin should be barred for the rest of his life from being on any set with any gun real or fake.
* You right Troutmouth about me not knowing about guns, l don't own one, never had the need to as well. But we talking " movie sets " here. Alec, was l would imagine under the impression that he was handed a gun with " BLANKS " is that to much to fathom. I have seen loads of Westerns & l seriously doubt every actor that was handed a gun shouted out " Hey guys- l hope we have BLANKS in this piece" l am holding! How about cop movies- same thing. It's a movie set Troutmouth,  and you need to realize that..like, right now.p
EVERY time some one hands you a gun it is ALWAYS ASSUMED to be loaded with a round in the chamber until YOU verify that it's not. If you don't know how to verify it, then you shouldn't be handling it. The biggest excuse in the world is, "I didn't know it was loaded".
" To the best of my memory: Only 2 movies had gun death scenes: Bruce Lee's Son & the Rust movie set. Both should have had blanks & there was a mix up. In the Decades since, it's been pretty safe, meaning: You over reacting.
* Both should have had blanks & there was a mix up.

That is exactly why every gun is always assumed to be loaded. People make mistakes.

Four movies that used live ammo.

noisefart is the most ignorant pos troll, stfu and get out of your mothers basement, you irritating apologist for a GD jackass as$hole like baldwin. what the fawke is wrong with you?
* You the only infant in the forum jar jar. Anyways - jokes aside, none of you Maga folks would be coming hard after Baldwin if not because he played 45 as a bungling idiot on SNL. There is always a certain amount of truth in satire, I know it and so do you.
As I have read down through these numerous postings, most of you have valid points. I am glad to see noise-gate admit, "You right Troutmouth about me not knowing about guns, l don't own one, never had the need to as well.".....That is good to know ....So let me give you some sound advice from numerous rangemasters that trained me from 5 different Law Enforcement academies( 2 MP schools, 1 State Police Academy-not highway patrol, 1 crossover academy -state to state and 1 Federal Law Enforcement Academy.
A firearm is always loaded, don't assume it, don't guess it. Have a mindset that the handgun is loaded with deadly projectiles. You never let anyone hand you a weapon/handgun/rifle without checking it to ensure that weapon is loaded or unloaded. NEVER NEVER NEVER. Movie sets are not exempt from weapon safety. The only way you fully know that weapon cannot harm you or other people is to physically/visually inspect and unload it (or disassemble it). Revolvers are easy, semi's require a bit more effort.  Shotguns and Rifles have other concerns.
Never point a firearm at anyone/thing that you don't intend to kill, maim or destroy.
Be sure of sure target, backstop and beyond.
   Alec Baldwin was wrong. Period. He took full and total control of a weapon that is capable of firing deadly projectiles. Here is what he failed to do;
1. He did not inspect the revolver or the rounds placed in the cylinder.  This would take less than 60 seconds to conduct and ensure, with the armorer present.
2. He placed his finger inside the trigger guard, not knowing the weapon was loaded with a live round/rounds(as opposed to a movie prop round).
3. He and he alone discharged the projectile from the firearm that killed Halyna Hutchins.
4. Not knowing the firearm was loaded with live rounds was his responsibility because that particular firearm was fully capable of discharging a deadly projectile. The sheriff said three guns were seized from the scene, including the Colt revolver. The sheriff described the other guns as "an apparently non-functioning .45 caliber revolver and a plastic non-functioning prop gun."
While Baldwin did not act with premeditated intent to kill, He was absolutely CARELESS at the very least in the discharging of the weapon that killed that woman and injured Joel Souza. Wreckless conduct with a firearm could be considered against him but most likely that wouldn't stick due to the intent aspect.
The statement of " You an actor on a movie set, you act,  it's not your responsibility to cover your own A** in asking " is this thing loaded," is SO WRONG and lack of knowledge from handling of any firearms that is almost laughable.... But, at least you admitted not knowing about firearms. So helpfully my carrying/qualifying the following list of weapons will give you confidence that what I say is something you can bank on, 100%. I started lawfully carrying weapons at age 18 and still do, to this day.
M-16, M1911 45, S&W 357, Beretta 92 FS 9MM, Remington 870 Shotgun, Glock 17 9MM, MP5 submachine gun, H&K G-36 5.56 Full Auto Rifle, Glock 22 .40 cal and the Glock 21 .45 caliber. <--- love this one.     I am not bragging, just have experience and responsibility in carrying each of these ... FYI, not one of these weapons has had an"accidental discharge".
Guns, guns, guns. Nobody checked the guns that went off by my house the other day. At least 30 shots at 4 in t h e morning!  I think he should be charged for negligence at least some thing.  But it's important as to note  these big movie companies have millions to spend t hen why not get someone who is an expert to check the guns?
Shame baldwin wasnt practicing a suicide scene. He is a very arrogant angry POS from the way he spoke to his daughter to the assault and batteries over parking spaces, karma is going to catch up with him.

On firearm handling, we learned very early as kids firearm safety. Mandatory.
All the Republicans are always preaching and fighting for guns. Now they criticize!
* Thanks for the gun info CD. Personally,  l have no reason to lie about what l know and don't know. Which is one of the reasons l cannot stand anyone,  President or otherwise not admitting " they were wrong on anything " hint hint especially when people's lives are involved. But reading your experience, l come back to Baldwin's case, there was someone hired on set who's sole responsibility was to " check the guns, load the guns etc etc" and hand those weapons off to the actors, Alec, like myself could be completely ignorant of the procedure and though not free from blame may not have been instructed thoroughly enough on the handling of the weapons. I learned something about guns, you have my thanks.

* Oth, l have yet to read that Alec was thoroughly informed " as you pointed out the do's & don't of gun handling on that set. If he was informed,  well Alec should own it.

This interview says it all about Alec Baldwins attitude towards gun safety and his part
Alec Baldwin says he feels no guilt about Rust shooting.
I feel that someone is responsible for what happened, and I cant say who that is,. But I know its not me, the actor told ABC News."
UN EFFING BELIEVABLE........There you have it folks, complete lack of responsibility or concern...... That is the liberal mindset in a nutshell.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/live-bullet-gun-fired-alec-baldwin-fatal-movie/story?id=80813700
"The .45-caliber Colt which has been described by law enforcement as a legit antique gun, not a prop gun was not thoroughly checked before being given to Baldwin, who fired the lead bullet, according to officials"
As far as having "an expert to check the guns"....

"Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer, has blamed the shooting on other factors, including possible sabotage, Baldwins lack of training, and a failure by Halls and Baldwin to ask her for extra checks. In a statement on Thursday, her lawyers, Jason Bowles and Todd Bullion, said: We fully expect at the end of this process that Hannah will also be exonerated.
"The first assistant director, Dave Halls, last month received a suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon. Prosecutors had said he was responsible for set safety."
"At 24, Reed did not have much experience doing this. Rust was only her second film as lead armorer and as details of the shooting emerge, many in the film industry have questioned her hiring; the shooting came just hours after the crew walked off the set, citing safety complaints and misfires."

"Reed grew up on Hollywood sets, often tagging along with her father, a former Marine who served as Brad Pitts gun coach on The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and served as a quick draw expert on Django Unchained. She has said that her favorite childhood memory with her dad was visiting the set of the 2007 film 3:10 to Yuma when she was around 10."
"n a video statement regarding the states decision, New Mexicos Environmental Cabinet Secretary James Kenney said that serious management failures plagued the production, and that if standard industry practices were followed, the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins and the serious injury to Joel Souza would not have occurred.

In a statement , Reeds lawyer Jason Bowles wrote, After OSHAs very comprehensive safety investigation involving numerous interviews and review of documents, it has concluded that production willfully failed to follow national gun safety standards, which caused this tragedy... OSHA found that Hannah Gutierrez Reed was not provided adequate time or resources to conduct her job effectively, despite her voiced concerns.

EXACTLY !!!!  Limited experience and complaints of misfires & safety. Just because her father was an experienced armorer, doesn't give her enough time to develope & maintain proper qualifications as an armorer. Perhaps as an assistant, still in training, yes. I could not locate any formal training that Hanna G-Reed has been a part of, to be classified as a "qualified armorer". No military background either, nor a list of Armorer schools that serve to certify a person as an armorer.
Here's what the "evil NRA" says about gun safety:
https://www.nraonlinetraining.org/COURSES/NRA_RSO/lesson3/story_content/external_files/NRA_Gun_Safety_Rules_Brochure.pdf
  fhttps://www.nrablog.com/articles/2015/7/the-rules-of-nra-gun-safety/or weapon safety.
Noise-gate....remember, Alec Baldwin has been handling firearms on and off in movies for OVER 30 years... As he stared in The Hunt for Red October, where he used a semi auto handgun to kill the perpetrator on the submarine. He also starred with Anthony Hopkins in The Edge in 1997.
https://americanmilitarynews.com/2022/08/here-are-7-videos-of-alec-baldwin-using-guns-in-his-movies/
So he has knowledge, experience, training and expectations. He alone is neglent because he discharged the antique firearm, along with a few others who also bare responsibility for putting live rounds in the weapon.

Good article to read  by a qualified instructor
Well Benny, all you talk about is how dangerous your neighborhood is, well move, nobody is forcing you to stay, why would you risk a loved one getting maimed or even killed?
Stand up for you home or move. If you are not willing to work with other neighbors and law enforcement to make a better place then maybe you deserve to live in a war zone.
by the way Benny, the gun had nothing to do with Alex's bad decisions that day.
* Point taken CDana- Looking back, it seems actors like John Wayne, Stallone & others will pause and ask themselves is this thing loaded moving forward. All these actors sitting in saddles for a living may have dodged nuclear bullets over their years and sometimes it takes a horrific incident to bring them to their senses.
* The X files series was right: Trust No One.
Here's a thought Weasel, find a firing range near you, go and sign up for lessons , when you see first hand all you need to know maybe you will understand why responsible gun owners fight back.
Yep there are lots of evil people who do harm, they are going to do harm anyway, it's their nature to hurt.
Sometimes you have good people who just make bad choices, they can pay the price.
I think Baldwin got off on star power, manslaughter would have fit, most certainly some fines.
* l will " find " a firing range if you can find a brain 🧠 Troutmouth. Was Rittenhouse a responsible gun owner or not? Sobbing w/ no tears in court over " defending himself" & when he gets sued in civil court, suddenly the fun & games have ended & a gofundme thingie is set up with a warning to others from Riddy : If they can do it to me,they can do it to you! Classic " l did nothing wrong " defense.

* Yep, if you cross State lines & shoot people, be prepared to get sued. He is looking for sympathy- know where to find it? A dictionary pal.
Sympathy is somewhere in the dictionary between sh*t and syphilis.
screw you weasel, I tried to be nice to you and you just continue to be an awful human.
Every thing you'll want to know.
