Is Feeding the Homeless A Constitutional Right?

http://reason.com/archives/2018/09/01/food-freedom-first-amendment-is-feeding

Comments:
I doubt very seriously if that is mention in the Constitution. Back then the residents were more civil and knew how to care of themselves and each other. No one was counting on the Government to house and feed them.
Well, the 11th Circuit Court seems to think so, so I guess it is....unless/until it reaches the Supreme Court, then we shall see.

I'm with Bob 100%, but our "laws" already put limits on charitable activities. (Meaning IRS rules, which carry the weight and force of the law...which, IMHO, is unconstitutional, but that's a whole 'nuther argument) We can only give so much each year to individuals (without being taxed), so much to other people(in a sum that surpasses the yearly amount) in our lifetimes and while we aren't forbidden from donating our entire yearly income to a charity, we are limited in what we deduct.
"We are limited in what we CAN deduct (off our taxes)".

This 20-20 hindsight editing isn't that good. I wish we had a grace period as we do on the forum message boards, a time limit in which to edit our posts. It would also be nice to have a "fancy editor" as we do in the forums, too, but I bet there's a really good reason for not having them here in the blogs, several good reasons actually.
It's very obvious that this country has gotten nearly completely away from what saith the Lord our God, and, our so called evangelicals are most guilty as of lately. We give away BILLIONS in aid to other countries while clearly neglecting our own RIGHT HERE...even OUR VETERANS. There is no benefit to helping others when you're only doing it because you expect or want something back. Everyone wants to run to the Constitution for everything when it was that BIBLE that was here before any of that it and we're governed by biblical principles before anything else. *If I want to feed someone that's clearly hungry and risk breaking some kind of severely overbearing law then, so be it! I'll happily pay the consequence for putting God FIRST because he rewards us for this...and will also protect us for HIS cause. It amazes me how so many people are hung up on the Constitution, knowing it up and down, while they aren't able to randomly quote and elaborate on the Bible in the same way. Just a few verses on this subject:

Matthew 25:35
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,

Isaiah 58:10
If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.

James 2:14-18
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Proverbs 28:27
Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse.

You started with gold, then it went to crap. I wouldn't disagree with "some" of what you say, Loser, but some of what you said is so inane, it makes me wonder even more than I already do about your mental capabilities.

"There is no benefit to helping others when you're only doing it because you expect or want something back."

I felt that was a jab at me b/c I brought up the limits of charitable donations, but what I was actually pointing out was how the govt. has its grubby paws in everything. Maybe you weren't aiming that at me, so I will let it slide.

"Everyone wants to run to the Constitution for everything when it was that BIBLE that was here before any of that it and we're governed by biblical principles before anything else."

You sound like someone from the TEA Party, or one of those Republican evangelic Conservatives you and your fellow progressives are constantly deriding. What I expect, however, is that you're just virtue signalling, nothing more. I find it very hard to believe YOU actually believe that.

"It amazes me how so many people are hung up on the Constitution..."

Guilty as charged, because I and every other freedom loving American ARE "hung up" on it. After all, it's the Law of the Land. It's your political party that insists it's a "living, breathing document" or that it's hopelessly out-of-date and who wants to bypass it, either by executive order or with the actions of some activist judge.

"...while they aren't able to randomly quote and elaborate on the Bible in the same way."

And I'm SURE you just quoted those verses off the top of your pointy little head, right? -snicker-

Let me clue you in on something, save you from your own hypocrisy...and I say this as an agnostic (an optimistic one, but one nonetheless):

You cannot vote Democrat and be a Christian; they are in no way (not even in Hell) compatible. They are mutually exclusive, understand? You can be one or the other, but not both.

@mike those last two sentences are golden.
LL, I know exactly where you are coming come. But the Bible also admonishes us to not feed that which is Holy unto dogs. I know you discern what that means,,, as for those that don't, let them remain ignorant.
Like I said ^^^^ Delusional, Christian-in-name-only.

Hypocrites quoting the Bible!
