I am not a supporter of the far radical right. However you can not shut down free speech in this country. If it comes a time when it is chosen who may speak their opinion free speech is lost in this country.
With this current event the counter protestors knew who they were going up against. The counter protestors should have let the protest group do their march and be done with it. This protest was pumped up in the press before it even began.
What we have now with this altercation is the left believe now they have the upper hand on who is to have free speech. What will the Left do now? They could come into a peaceful town hall assembly of the Right and disrupt that assembly of free speech. The Left could do the same with a campaign rally of a candidate on the Right.
This altercation yesterday was a turning point on free speech.
In todays news you can already see the attacks happening.

The problem we have here is that much like what exists on the left, the person that committed this atrocity doesn't represent all of those on the right which support Trump. I honestly believe this but, I also see where when it's time to strongly condemn the assailant and the act, too many are silent on the issue for fear of rubbing friends the wrong way, being called a RINO, a liberal hack job, and so many other stupid things simply because they wanna speak righteousness. PEER PRESSURE should've stopped during grade school and high school years, but it still prevails in adulthood as we clearly have witnessed. Trump is trying to downplay what is the root of the problem with his 'many sides' remarks when if this would've been a liberal that ran over scores of innocent people and killed one, he would've had another rally making it the center of them being the victims again. Now, though, 'many sides' are wrong? No, Mr. President, YOUR BOTTOM LINE BASE SUPPORTERS WHERE ANYTHING GOES IS THE PROBLEM.

Just like this alt right gang was having their free speech while in their combat gear, toting confederate flags, yelling racial slurs, and doing the Hitler salute, the left had a right to peacefully oppose what was going on while voicing opinions simultaneously. The left wasn't trying to silence anyone but, rather EXERCISE THAT SAME 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHT....THE RIGHT WAY. Trump is the one who actually promotes trying to silence all the media if it isn't speaking well about him or what's going on. When it's expedient for him, though, he uses that same media to promote himself, his business, and his MO in general. That's textbook hypocrisy. How in the hell is that we're trolls around here by just having our input on a given subject and not provoking targeting anyone? Yet, we get our azzes handed to us by over a half dozen regular members EVERY TIME for doing just that. Is this NOT an attack on free speech and to shut those opposite of you down? YES, IT IS. I have pages and pages of commentary where we've been attacked around here for no good reason other than posting our thoughts which just so happens to support what happened in Charlottesville. In fact, this happens all over the internet within the blogs. Say what they say, think what they think, and feel what they feel or get your azz handed to you for no reason.

They show up talking about 'spitting in your face' and all that stuff which, if they actually said that to a police officer, they'd be arrested or ticketed for threatening an officer. See how stupid this kind of mentality is? They don't care, they just want to make it clear just how much they hate the left by any means necessary. None of this is to say that all those on the left aren't guilty of similar acts but, it's proven to be rampant among those on the right. Obama promoted free speech and reporting even when the media ripped into him but, Trump wants to shut it down altogether. What does this say? Hell, it's the REPUBLICANS that want to ban PEACEFUL protesting period!

REPUBLICANS turned off the cameras during the recent gun control debate and the Democrats had to go live on Periscope during their sit-in! It's not the Progressives/Liberals/Democrats that are messing with the 1st Amendment........IT'S THE REPUBLICANS.

The thing that is upsetting to me is the fact that these radical right-ists are using the past and creating their own fantasy beliefs about the past and what it means. They're calling themselves Americans but they're acting far from it. They believe in ideas like secession. They weren't around during the Civil War. It failed. Why would they think it wouldn't. It's just insane. They're making up their own history and blaming people for "changing" history when they are the ones changing it in the first place. It's really quite ridiculous and shouldn't be tolerated by anyone. I can't even believe it's going on to be honest. Shameful and uneducated. Really.

Call it what you want, but public safety outweighs free speech. They brought it upon themselves. As usual they can only blame themselves for their ridiculous thoughts and ideas.
