More proof of disgusting media bias

I have such intense disdain for the massive bias being played out in major newspapers and TV broadcasts in the USA.

It is a complete lack of honesty, and any remnant of journalistic integrity has been discarded a long time ago.  The media is nothing but an arm of the Democrat party at this point.

Democrats:  it might make you feel good that the media is so firmly supporting everything your party stands for, but don't deceive yourself:  it is YOUR country that is going down the toilet because of a lack of an independent news media.  You are no longer getting the truth.  You are getting force-fed messages that alter and control your opinion.

Here's just another of a string of articles lately detailing the prevailing media bias.

Obama's Repeated Golf Outings During War and Recession Garner Little Criticism

Tuesday, June 23, 2009
By Penny Starr, Senior Staff Writer

President Barack Obama has gone to the golf course at least 11 times since he took the oath of office a little more than six months ago — three rounds were played during the late January, 12-day holiday Obama took with his family in Hawaii; one at Andrews Air Force Base; and seven at Ft. Belvoir Golf Course, including a round on Sunday, Father's Day, with Vice President Joe Biden.

These 11 rounds played by the president are documented through media reports of his golf trips. The White House press office told that to confirm every round of golf played by the president since he took office would take "hours" because the only records kept are those sent to the media through e-mails that are not posted on the White House Web site because they are for media planning only.

Despite ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, ongoing violence in Iran, and an economy that Obama has described as the worst since the Great Depression, the president has golfed multiple times in the past several weeks — on April 26, May 16, May 25, May 31, June 7, June 9, June 14 and June 21.

Obama's golf outings have generated favorable reports from the media, in contrast to his predecessor, George W. Bush.

On Aug. 5, 2002, The Washington Post wrote about President Bush golfing near his parents' home in Kennebunkport, Maine. Under the headline "Before Golf, Bush Decries Latest Deaths in Mideast," staff writer Mike Allen described Bush as he "sprang from his golf cart at 6:15 a.m. and said he was distressed to hear about the latest suicide bombers in Israel."

"Bush, wearing khakis and a knit shirt, was holding a driver in his gloved left hand," Allen wrote.

"However incongruous the setting, the president plunged ahead," Allen wrote.

"There are a few killers who want to stop the peace process that we have started, and we must not let them," he [Bush] said. "I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers."

"His business out of the way," Allen wrote, "Bush barely paused for breath before saying, 'Thank you. Now watch this drive.'"

A search of news reports on Nexis revealed that photographers, but not reporters have access to Obama when he is on the links. But his outings have been covered, including by The Washington Post on June 9, 2009, in an article with the headline "Just the Sport for A Leader Most Driven."

"What's the deal? Why golf?" Post staff writer Richard Leiby wrote. "The attraction seems to be simple. It's a great escape; the game demands such attention that nothing else matters. It's time spent with friends, an unhurried afternoon in loose clothing (shorts seem to be Obama's preference)."

Leiby continued, "To some, Obama's frequent outings reflect a cool self-confidence."

Leiby even quoted a sports psychologist who said Obama seemed able to play golf despite the grim reports by the media about the wars and the economy.

In August 2003, Bush said he decided to stop playing golf to show his respect for the men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," Bush said in an interview with Politico and Yahoo News on May 13, 2008. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

Bush said he made the decision after the August 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, which killed Sergio Vieira de Mello, the top U.N. official in Iraq and the organization's high commissioner of human rights. He was golfing when he got the news.

"I was playing golf — I think I was in central Texas — and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, 'It's just not worth it anymore to do.'"

Bush was criticized for giving up golf, including by presidential historian Robert Dallek who was quoted in a May 14, 2008 article in The Washington Post.

Dallek said Bush's remarks about Iraq "speak to his shallowness." Dallek added: "That's his idea of sacrifice, to give up golf?"

Bush's father, President George H.W. Bush, also was criticized for golfing in a time of war.

In an Aug. 3, 2006 article in USA Today entitled "No Rest for the President," it noted that George W. Bush cut his summer vacation to 10 days because of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, and a sidebar reviewed other presidential vacations.

Among other things, the sidebar said, "George H.W. Bush: In 1990, Bush was criticized for playing golf and fishing at his Kennebunkport, Maine, summer home and seeming indifferent as U.S. troops were being deployed to the Persian Gulf in anticipation of a war with Iraq."

Obama golfed on May 25 after he spoke and placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery on Memorial Day. Presidential aides told the media that Obama observed a moment of silence at 3 p.m. while on the links.

Obama also played golf on June 7, the day he returned from his trip to Egypt and Germany, where he visited Holocaust concentration camps, and Normandy, France, where as many as 6,000 American troops died when Allied Forces invaded the country during World War II.

"With his wife and daughters still in France, the president ducked out of the White House 90 minutes after getting home and headed out to the Andrews Air Force Base course with his clubs to enjoy a round, with skies only partly cloudy and temperatures about 80 degrees," United Press International reported on June 7.

The following U.S. troops died in Iraq and Afghanistan while Obama was on golf outings, according to records of U.S. troop casualties kept by the Department of Defense:

  • Spc. David A. Schaefer Jr., 27, of Belleville, Ill., died May 16 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Schweinfurt, Germany.
  • Cmdr. Duane G. Wolfe, 54, of Port Hueneme, Calif., died May 25 from injuries suffered as a result of an improvised explosive device attack on his convoy southeast of Fallujah. Wolfe was assigned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Gulf Region Division in Iraq.
  • Spc. Eduardo S. Silva, 25, of Greenfield, Calif., died June 9 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, of a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 563rd Aviation Support Battalion, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

  • Mental indoctranation [aka brainwashing] by the media to fit an agenda.

  • JAP nailed it. Re-education machine.

    By konane, at 11:31 AM

  • I believe they ($$h!tk stream media) slowly but surely are going to come to regret their deal with the GANGSTAPUPPETOTUSPOS.   The media is soooo invested in HIS success they don't even understand what they are rooting for and promoting. They forgot about America in lieu of an idol (false god).

    By jarasan, at 11:52 AM

  • Deeper and Darker, more Sinister. Beyond your imagination or comprehension. We as ordinary Citizens are not privy to what is really going on behind closed doors of the rich and powerful. There will always be two separate classes, has been, always will be. We are only pawns for them to play with, to do as they wish to gain more money and power. There isn't anything that they would not do and if you think different you are living in a make believe world of your own making. I have given up on our Government and Politicians altogether.

    By Kaptainess, at 12:22 PM

  • @Kaptainess, Your comment, if not facetious, is one of myth, defeatism, and naiveity. Where the country is "right now", is a direct result of an misinformed, manipulated mass of USAmerican citizens that voted blindly for GANGSTAPUPPETOTUSPOS with no intellectual investment as to whom they were voting for. The $h!t stream media is still at it, nothing GANGSTAPUPPETOTUSPOS has done so far has improved anything, it is worse, he is all about subjugating people that lay down and give up just like you have said in your comment. Don't lay down, don't be a pawn, don't think you can't change your lot in life, anything is still possible in USAmerica.

We don't have rigged elections here in the USAmerica.

    By jarasan, at 3:47 PM

  • I agree, the public has largely become a controllable mass of misinformed, ignorant people who are more concerned with the divorce of some people on TLC than they are about their freedom. It's what happens as people lose track of what it took to become the country we are. The people of today don't have a sacrifice a thing, and I don't think they would if it came to it.

    By Todd, at 3:53 PM

  • I agree. The media's coverage of Obama is so biased that I have actually put a parental control on MSNBC. I do not even want to inadvertentally see that station.

    By hummer09, at 4:19 PM

  • I beg your pardon!?!?!   Name calling is a part of an adult discussion, nor placing labels on people, nor personally attacking them to prove ones point of view. Sure, my point of view doesn't line up with yours, that is why we have open forums here. I did not give raw data to my concerns feeling its too hideous to think about or even put in print. But I'm concerned greatly about the information I am reading that happened years ago and what is happening now, history is repeating itself. Its a dangerous time right now.

When the Government wanted to test the Bomb what did they do? They lined up service men and blew the bomb so they can see what affects it would have on the human body. When they wanted to test germ warfare they tested it on the service men. When they wanted to test Syphilis they tested it on Blacks for years without them knowing it.   We are tests rats as far as our Government is concerned. I can go on with the testing that our Government has done on us and we didn't even know it. My favorite brother, Victor, died from the affects of Agent Orange that he came home with from being in Viet Nam. They KNEW it was contaminated and they sprayed it anyway. He suffered all his life with a rash that would not go away no matter what medical or herbal treatment he used, and I do believe that it did internal damage to him as well, it had to, he said every surface where the troops were was sticky with the substance, that they sprayed it over the field where they were stationed.

My concern now is this. Why is FEMA stockpiling plastic caskets all over the country? The caskets can hold about 5-6 adults depending on their size. One site has over 500,000 of these plastic caskets with flat lids so they can do mass burials. I am digging every day online to ascertain why and what for.

We know this Swine Flu was man made right? Right. No matter how you cut it, there is no way that three viruses can combine as it did in this new flu. The only good think I can credit Nixon for was stopping germ warfare, but I'm concerned that under other Presidents it started up again without us knowing. Possible. I read that the samples for the Swine Flu was missing from the CDC. Why? Where did they go? But unless I can get a handle on all the information I can't say.

As for the bank failures and the stock market crash, the loss of all the retirement money that people depended on to have a good life after years of work. Why did it happen? Ask yourself why did our Government let it happen when for nearly 12 years experts sent the Government warnings?   Because of the workforce, our workforce would have dropped and the workers of this country would be the one calling the shots, not the Big Brother Companies. It was forecasted that there would be a labor shortage when the Baby Boomers would start to retire. Less workers, less taxes. The transfer of wealth went back to the rich, the working man and woman will have to work until they are days away from the grave because their nest egg is gone. In the news today companies stated that they will put less money into their employee's 401K's, and that goes back to what I just mentioned.

For the first time in my adult life I did not vote, I will not vote any more in life. I made myself a promise never to vote again. I am not a defeatist, I am not ignorant, and all of the other labels you have slapped on me. I am a college and self educated adult woman that has seen so much crap in my life that I wonder when it will stop. It will never stop, we don't have the power, the means, the energy nor the interest to make a change in our Government. They do what they want, and if we do raise heck we are labeled as anti American, not good for National Security.

I thought it was a dangerous mood that swept our country with the ''Obama'' craze, I even liken it to Hitler, Jim Jones, and David Corresh. The masses seem to be hypnotized, a fervor that was dangerous. I even wrote Oprah a nasty email about her actions for not allowing other candidates to be on her show for a balanced point of view. I didn't care if it was a green person or blue, I wanted to see normalcy in our election process. It didn't happen. I never follow in line with anyone just because its the thing to do. Never. I have a mind of my own and I intend to use it for as long as I can. You don't know me, I have been a trail blazer all my professional and personal life and I won't stop because of someone's opinion of me. I will never allow anyone to define me, to label me. I am the only one that is allowed to define me.

So lets keep our discussions civil and state our facts and thoughts without personally attacking each other??

    By Kaptainess, at 8:51 PM

  • @Kaptainess-

I'm reading and re-reading every comment here, and I can't see any personal attacks on you or name-calling. Am I missing something? If anything, it looks like Jarasan and I have agreed that serious problems exist, but I don't think the answer is to turn a cold shoulder or not vote.

If the USA will not become great again, then what country will?

Again, nobody has attacked you (at least that I can see). I think there's a lot of upset people -- upset that our kids' futures are being spent away, and that Socialism is being rammed down our throats. This president is not the quasi-conservative that he masqueraded as during the campaign.

  • China. China is predicted to become #1, India #2, Mexico #3 and we will fall to # 4, Canada will move up in the ranks, maybe even surpassing the US, and so on. England will have a lowering of living standards and they will lose their place in the rank of countries. Yes, there will be no American Dream for your children.   We are not educating our children, we can't afford it anymore. We used to MAKE THINGS in the USA, we are a service oriented country now, we sell what others make. We are too self absorbed to worry about our children and give them values that our parents gave us, and their parents gave them. We do not protect what we make in the world market, our patents on products are ignored by China and they don't buy our products they make our products and sell all over the world. It is also predicted that we will be a third world country very soon.

There is a big upset for us comprehend coming, its hard to realize that we will no longer drive big cars, buy big houses, and instead drive small cars if we can afford it, work until death, buy smaller houses, and buy less junk. We will have to learn to scale down in all aspects of our lives, not by choice. If we keep traveling down the road we are on that only a few gets the prize of going to college and education we are in a world of finish that line.

I fought my professor in college like a lion about the global market, why it wasn't in the best interests of the US to give away jobs and pay the companies in tax breaks to take our jobs overseas. Yeah, I got a C in that class, and F on my paper, and ruined my 4.0 average. But, I still stand by my voice, it was correct. We paid companies to send our jobs overseas. And we let the companies do whatever they wanted. We will pay the price of what was done then now.

Democrats or Republicans or Independents -- they are POLITICIANS - History has it as one the most pathological lying professions there is, untrustworthy, greedy, power mad, socialpaths, and some are psychopaths. Being a politician in early history was not an honorable profession. Early cartoons in the editorial pages use to show citizens setting them on fire or throwing garbage at them and worst. They sell the Citizens out for cash and prizes to the Lobbyists, instead of doing the right thing by US.

We didn't like Sadam so we put him on trial and killed him. We couldn't buy him, threaten him, so we killed him. We as a nation did away with many heads of states that didn't see things ''our way'', we needed the oil in Irqa, one of the riches oil reserves there is on the planet, even more than Saudi Arabia, and a few other countries combined. I wondered why that man had the expression he did when found guilty and sentenced to death, disbelief. Two countries told the US they were on the wrong track, but we went in anyway and took over the country, disposed the leader.

The World is Flat and Hot, Flat, and Crowded - Thomas L Friedman, very good books and a frequent guest on Charlie Rose. This man has insight to what is going on. Start there and keep reading. His website is good reading too.

Just don't trust any politician and you are on the right track.

    By Kaptainess, at 12:44 AM

  • It makes sense to be skeptical, but there is such a thing as going overboard to the point that everything becomes bad and evil. American is imperfect, but that's first and foremost because mankind is imperfect. Anyone who says they are leading us toward perfection (a "utopia") is not to be trusted, because the only way they can get there is by eliminating your freedoms.

Why is that? Because in life some people are naturally better equipped to achieve great things than others -- for whatever reason, be it physical or environmental. In order to achieve "perfection" for everybody, you have to literally take what one group of people have achieved and give it it those who did not achieve. Naturally, those on the receiving end are happy about this, but in the end the only thing achieved is that we are all enslaved to a tyranny, unable to be different or special. Nobody has any "greatness" -- except for those in the ultra-elite class, who dictate the "perfection" that is to be forced on the rest of us.

So we can move toward that vision, or we can move toward imperfection and personal freedom.

Kaptainess -- I will take imperfection and personal freedom any day, and I will reject the notion of a utopia without a second thought. I'll take lying politicians over a tyranny any day, because we can vote out politicians, but tyranny is forever.

The only other possibility is a society without rules, and if you look back in history that has been tried too -- and is soon replaced by a tyranny. No thanks.

So, my friend, I believe it is better to work with what we have than to wring our hands and turn our backs on it.
