Lottery Post Journal

Got some coding in today

Worked on new Sent Items folder for Gold & Platinum memberships.  This will let members keep track of Private Messages that they send.

Also working on improving the results section.  The lottery results will be available for all US lottery states, plus Canada and the UK.  And they will be among the quickest results to the Web.

Gold and Platinum members are going to get improved access, including the entire draw histories for all games, statistics, and searching past results.

Also, there will be listings of current jackpots for all games, as well as jackpot histories.

This is going to be fun!  I wish I could have everything ready sooner, but it is a tremendous amount of work.

  • Sounds great Todd - How far away are you before you start up the membership?

  • How do you determine membership statis?

  • Standard membership will always be free, and Gold and Platinum will be pay memberships. If you don't want to pay, never fear - all the features available today will always be available.

  • This blog thing is kinda cool like having your own personal thread, but are we stuck with any undesirable comments or will we be able to edit or delete comments at any time?

  • Bob,

I'm open to suggestions on that, although I'm not keen on giving an ability to edit comments posted by someone else. That's because I can envision someone posting some comments, and then becoming very upset when someone edits those comments, perhaps even changing the meaning of what was said.

I did put in the ability to lock your own Blog entries so that you can prevent anyone from posting comments. Beyond that, I am unsure if I should add a "Delete" funciton to delete someone's comments, because if there's a lot of deleting going on, it will probably cause a chilling effect and make people not want to post comments any more.

Hopefully you can see the amount of thought that goes into a decision like this.

Let me know what you think.

  • I agree it wouldn't be proper to edit the posts of others. On the other hand we shouldn't have to live with an "evil" post in our personal blog thread so either we should be able to delete/tidy up our blog area or we should be able to appeal to someone who can as necessary.
