"Environmental Protection Agency Reviewing Petition to Ban Lead Bullets

Does anyone other than me see this as a backdoor approach to implementing gun control?  Or have I been reading too many conspiracy theories that I'm outta touch?

No konane, you are exactly right. It IS a backdoor approach to gun-control. One of their ideas was/is to 'serialize' each and every bullet. The prohibitive cost to manufacture same would make bullets unaffordable to most gun owners. I'm not sure if that idea has been shot down or not.

The safest material to use in a bullet is lead because it is malleable and expands, preventing it from going completely through things (eg., walls) to hit innocent bystanders. The small amount of lead leaching from spent bullets in hunting areas (which are far removed from municipal water supplies) has never presented a problem in the past when many more people actively hunted for their own food. Lead is in a controlled environment at a shooting range and poses no threat. Ergo, the only reason they are doing this is to make it harder to exercise our 2nd amendment rights.

If they are so worried about the safety of lead, why is our military using depleted uranium in its munitions? Let's ask the doctors in Fallujah about the dramatic increase in birth deformities at a rate higher than the aftermath of Hiroshima.
Thanks Rick! Your reality checks always make me feel better. ;-)
I agree, backdoor all the way.
Thanks Sully! Hubby heard they're not going to, however that won't stop this bunch.
