NEWS FLASH!!
In my line of work, which is healthcare...I have to wait for authorization from certain HMO companies to approve of care while in the hospital and/or post hospital care. From what I can hear from this speaker, he is not giving out any new information. He is projecting a lot of scar tactics in a calm and easy manner.
I only wish all Americans could understand that everyone, (U.S. Citizens) who needs healthcare and deserve healthcare, should be able to get all of the healthcare that they need at affordable rates or free.
As I stated before, as a Nurse Casemanager, I've had to deal with so many aspects of trying to obtain the care that our patient's need to obtain optimal health. The clientele that I deal with have mostly Medicare/ medicaid or uninsured. It's such a relief to us when planning out-patient care when we find the patient has Medicare and a supplimental insurance that will pay for their care needs. But even Medicare has their guide lines that we have to follow.
Our operations are insurance driven already. If a patient doesn't have insurance our hospitals end up eating a large proportion of their bills. There are many hospitals, nursing homes, chronic care facilities and other healthcare facilities that will transfer uninsured persons out to other facilities, sometimes under false pretents, so that they will not be responsible for the bills that the person's healthcare will accured. I have heard of hospitals in California that will not even care for uninsured person, that were dumping patient.
Healthcare for all is and will be a big undertaking. But, it's an undertaking that many 2nd and 3rd world countries have had for many years. Yes they may have problems within their systems such as poor medical techniology, poor medical equipment, poorly educated medical staff, fewer Doctors, Fewer hospital and/or medical clinics, poor transportation to access the facilities they do have and inability to access the resources the patient need. And I'm sure that we will run into some problems, but not those that I have mentioned. Our big problems will be financing the cost to cover all of the care for everyone including co-operation from the exiting health insurance companies and getting many of the Old-time Doctors to relinquish some of the egotistically notions that they deserve more financially than anyone else.

Thanks Litebets!! In case you missed it he prefaced his comments by saying all COLORED areas of the flow chart are NEW bureaucracies which will have to be fed with tax dollars for the proposed system to come into existence.

My primary objection is taxation which will have to be born by people much younger than me to feed those bureaucracies which are historically known for mismanagement and serving themselves before serving those they're set up to benefit. How are those bureaucracies going to be fed in a plummeting gross national product atmosphere which is happening in the real world? The next shoe to drop is commercial real estate market and it's going to be a big one.

Right now the administration is slapping a happy face on a 'rally' engineered by the Federal Reserve printing more fiat money, front running stock brokers churning the market creating a false appearance of recovery.

Investigating further one finds the economy propped up, suspended by a sky hook attached to hot air.

People in hospitals who are inconvenienced by people with different kind of health insurance (or no health insurance) are irrelevant to the disucssion. I don't care if my choice of health insurance is inconvenient to someone in a hospital. It's *my* choice, and if they work there, it's their job to work with what I have. It is not their job to force a system on me that will make their job easier. I could care less, to be frank.

Government takeover of health care is the final nail in the coffin of freedom. If someone is in the health care profession, then if they were honest, they would be able to tell you about how many people it would require to make it all work. It would take a workforce of literally millions of people to administer the government plan. It is a nightmare scenario that, if passed, would NEVER be able to be removed -- because it would put too many people out of work to do so.

Shame on the pathetic media for covering all of the protests from a biased standpoint. These are regular folks trying to express themselves, and the media (and Obama White House) is trying to portray them as organized Republicans. What a shameful thing to say.

Wasn't it just a couple of years ago all of the liberals out there -- including the liberals who post on these pages -- were saying that protest was the highest form of patriotism? What happened to them? Their silence is deafening. They should be honoring those who are protesting, not labeling them.

Healthcare is not a right. The congress should pilot their proposal for 10 years and then let the American decide.

As far as I can see so far this is another plunge at taking away what little dignity we as americans have left. I personally don't want this shoved in my face. He can actually take this scam and put it in his POTUS. This crap belongs in his backyard, not ours....

Thanks Maddog!!! Sometimes a picture .... in this case chart ... is worth a thousand words. Countries which have socialized health care are finding central planning for the collective hasn't worked. If Washington wasn't so lost implementing "the plan" they might figure it out.

First of all, no one is going to make you take any insurance that you don't want. If you are employed, enjoy your coverage then fine keep it. If your employeer is not providing any coverage for you then policies will be put in place that will help your employeer to provide such care. If you have Medicare/Medicaid, then their guide lines maybe altered here and there to increase payment in some serves.
As far as developing hundreds of committees or departments to develop a healthcare system, I don't believe that chart no more then I believed George Bush's theory about Iraq.
It's so funny how people who have coverage will look down on those who don't have and try to make judgements against them. You can give the cause any name you want, socialism, communism... I call it HELP for those who are really in need.
How many of you know people who are nearly bankrupt because they have hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills.
So, your not in that boat...shame on those who are. Please. If the republicans had even tried to come up with a healthcare measure for everyone over the past 8 years, then I am so sure that all of you would have been jumping for joy and praising that party no matter how much taxes are put on the table to pay for it.
What we have in this country leaves out so many. Our taxes, right now, goes towards some of their medical care.

I hate it when older patients come in sick because they can't afford to buy the prescription drugs that they were prscribes for their illinesses. I have seen too many who cut their pills in half to keep from having to buy another month of prescriptions. The vouchers that we give are only good for 30 days and we can't give them out to everyone.
If oversight departments have to be developed to make sure that the regulations or polices that are developed are followed, then so be it.
We have to keep those selfish politicians and insurance execcutives from profitting on loop holes or flaws in the system that they may find.

You cite selfish politicians which are fat on special interest money, insurance executives which provide that special interest money. There is a third interest which has deep pockets helping shove the issue down our throats which is one set to reap copious profits from a guaranteed system ......

Thanks litebets. republicans didn't do anything about it. It might not be a "Right" to have health insurance, but I figure if we help other countries with billions and billions every year, why can't we start with home first?....I always thought charity starts at home.

My personal mantra is take care of those in the US FIRST however niether party has done that during my entire lifetime and it sure isn't going to happen with this plan.

If you are under the impression that people will get to keep private health insurance, you are buying into the LIE that is being propagated by the administration trying to ram this down our throats. (I don't think you watched the video, because the guy explains it.)

That's why it is SO IMPORTANT for everyone to FULLY UNDERSTAND what is in the bill -- by READING IT.

The bill specifically OUTLAWS the creation of NEW private health plans. NO NEW ENROLLMENTS to private insurance.

So once you switch jobs, or when you insurance company no longer offers your existing plan, you are FORCED into the government plan. So within a decade or so, 100% of the US population will be under the government plan.

Well, maybe 99.9% of the population -- congress will undoubtedly get to KEEP their cushy health insurance, unlike the rest of us SCHMOES.

Thanks Todd!! Very well stated. I haven't had health insurance for years, so should be turning cartwheels over the possibility of being covered by some plan. However, considering what this one looks like, will pass.

I have been at this job for the past 37 years. I started June 1973. I plan to retire from this job and from Nursing totally when I do retire. The field of Nursing has been my lifes work, not just a job. I believe, in the days when I went to school for nursing you were trainned to do your job with pride. I know I'm dedicated to the field or I would not have held on to it and gone through the hell that some patients and administration have put me through from time to time.
Believe me, we in the healthcare industry are watching this process very closely. We happen to have had discussions in special forums about the healthcare reform and the bill which will go through changes before it can be passed. I have not seen the section that you state will change MY insurance coverage. I have seen and read portions of the bill. It is a rather large document, but mind you, the heath care system is not a simple system or a simple undertaking.
And, if the government can offer an affordable healthcare plan that can compete with the insurance plans that exist, covering the needs of the people that need care, then so be it. There is no perfect plan in existance at this point. Even Medicare has it"s limitations. That is why we encourage the elderly that have pre-existing health problems to get supplimental insurance that will pay the additional cost that Medicare won't.

I believe if the government weren't so in bed with the insurance industry it would investigate it top to bottom, enforce laws (if any are found) they're skirting, also enact new legislation where necessary especially regarding malpractice insurance which is driving doctors fees through the roof.

Under the current proposal which congress hasn't read themselves I'm opposed to allowing a whole pack of foxes blind faith charge over the hen house.
