If anyone is proposing a socialized medical program with dictator/Nazi rules, then of course, we don't want it. And that is what Reagan keeps talking about in that video. I don't think anyone is even suggesting that you cannot buy insurance, if you can afford it and want it.   But we definitely need a medical plan run by the Government for those that cannot afford medical care, like Medicare or Medicaid.

@truecritic: I guess you haven't been following this socialized medicine being proposed by Obama. The bill most certainly outlaws any new private plans from being created. Existing private plans may be grandfathered, but as soon as you want to go to a different company or change health plans, you are forced onto the government plan.

The socialized medicine plan also forces people to pay a multi-thousand-dollar fine if they fail to obtain health insurance.

Finally, the government has vastly over-estimated the number of people who have no health insurance. The actual number is between 10 and 15 million, with 15 million being extremely conservative. The reality is somewhere around 10 million. The other 40 million people thrown into the government estimate consist of illegal aliens and people who only temporarily don't have health insurance because they are changing jobs (or similar reasons).

So the government is lying about the numbers in order to make the "crisis" seem bad.

We most certainly do not need a medical plan run by the government. That is the worst option we have. There are a ton of viable free-market solutions that people have tried discussing in congress, but they are being blocked by Pelosi and Reid. They literally won't let them debate alternative plans, because they will do anything to pass this monstrosity.

Again, there is absolutely no government plan needed, and a government plan is actually harmful to the situation, rather than helpful. We literally have the best health care in the world, bar none. It will get much worse if the government is given control.
@truecritic: You know, I just finished listening to that terrific speech buy Reagan, and it's clear to me that you didn't listen to it. There is absolutely nothing about Nazis or dictators in there. It is an extremely relevant speech to the events of today, and it deals with precisely the same excuses and emotional arguments that liberals/statists are using today. (I LOVE that Reagan refers to them as statists -- perfect word choice!!)
@ Todd
I made a definite point to sit through the entire 10 minute video.

There are too many people that fall through the cracks with the "medical care" that is here today. We definitely need some kind of coverage for those that do not have insurance. Are you suggesting that Insurance companies will provide free coverage? Or that doctors or hospitals will provide free coverage for those people?

Been there - without insurance for many years - there was NO way to get doctor bills paid and I know I wasn't alone. My doctor reduced his office fee - but then there are tests he has no control over and those were full price. Or I wouldn't have the tests.   To say it was horrible would be an understatement. If not a national health insurance, then they have to change existing laws so it becomes much more available to more people.   Which to me, would be the same thing.

What kind of options can you come up with that will provide FREE coverage? Or nearly free coverage, like Medicare or Medicaid?

One other thing...because Obama proposes what he wants does not mean that Congress will give him that. It is rather clear to me, that there is a struggle to arrive at some other plan, otherwise it would have been a done deal yesterday.
Thanks Truecritic!! Do some serious research into the new world order and see the specifically named planned framework you come up with. After you get the bejeezus scared our of yourself then translate that to this proposal .... which is why government watchers are having a cow over what's taking place now, what's happening to our freedoms.

Medicare and Medicaid work just fine if we'd get illegals off the dole and update the database mechanism so that people can't double and triple dip. It also needs more checks and balances which are pretty easy to put into place if they'd concentrate on that rather than creating a new bureaucracy.
Thanks Todd!!! I believe Reagan was the last president who was NOT on the globalist glory train, who believed in what the USA represented and who urged us to achieve the best we could. He inherited a government, foreign policy AND economy wrecked by globalist Carter.

He also was responsible for the fall of the Soviet Union who was one of the predicted players in Armageddon which I've read won't now take place because of that fall.

As fascists in charge wave freebie-socialism-to-become-communism under our noses ..... they're guaranteeing themselves immensely more equality than the rest of us in their planned slave state.
@ konane
Unfortunately, the Government will evolve, whether everyone likes it or not. I disagree with both major parties for various things. Doesn't matter who you vote for, certain things will keep happening.
You put your vote in and hope for the best.

I agree Medicare/Medicaid need to be watched more intensely for people cheating the system. And illegals should not legally have benefits - they should be deported.
Ronald McDonald never gave thought to helping the middle class only the upper crust and his rich friends.

This Big Business brainwashing has got to stop. Why does anyone thing that Big Business has the public's best interests in mind is beyond me. That is what Ronald McDonald pushed all his Presidency.
He only lipped synched the speeches, his speech writer wrote them all, all Ronald McDonald did was do what he did on screen, a B rated actor at best.

I'm not saying that any politician lights my fires, I have not found any that isn't power mad and once in office only thinks of themselves and their friends, the heck with the average American.

Years after he insituted the "trickle down effect" this is what we have as a result in the ecconomy?   Lost of jobs, CEO's with Multi Million Dollar paychecks? It trickled up not down.   We are losing the middle class and once we do there will only be the rich and the poor, a third world country.

As for AIDS, it took that Bozo Reagan over 7 years to take it seriously, by that time it got so out of hand that the whole world is infected. I for one lost good people by AIDS, friends that I miss everyday. He just didn't have the common man in his agenda. And I do think that once it hit the non Gay community did he took action, a drop in the bucket to what should have been.

As for the Health/Insurance bill, has it really worked in all of these years that we have been fighting with the insurance companies? No, and once this bill is passed I hope they go after the car insurance industry as well.

LOOK at the insurance industry, how much money they rake in and how much they pay out. Sure they are in it for a profit, but I don't think profits should out weight a person's life if they need a procedure or medication.   There has to be something to bring these jokers down to a more human level.

My friend had her mother died from retal cancer, but the insurance company won't let her have an exam for another 3 years?? So in three years the cancer can grow and she could be in danger.   They won't take family history in account?   They don't have to pay the funeral bills nor medical bills once she's dead.
Thanks Kaptainess!! I'll stick by my guns as far as being absolutely against government health care. Under it your friend would have to wait just as long to see a doctor.    We old people who are a burden to the system are going to be made comfortable instead of receiving medical care or pharmaceuticals. Search eugenics and its origin for a better clue for what is the driving force of this bill.

Try putting blame where it lies, with ambulance chasing tort lawyers who've filed frivolous cases to enrich themselves along with having juries who award malpractice based on sympathy. This single-handedly caused malpractice insurance to rise where many awesome doctors had to cease practice.

Don't get me started on insurance companies, my opinion they're the ones that should be torn down and revamped from the bottom up. Their sole purpose is to not pay and to make money both of which they do an outstanding job.

Considering that Carter was the governor of Georgia I have a bit more on his ineffectiveness. If he weren't a globalist darling he'd have been put out to pasture long ago.

I don't care for big business myself and never liked hostile takeovers, however feel that was something the new world order running our government from behind the scenes had planned. I maintain Reagan performed as well as he could under those circumstances. I read an online intelligence report that he was given a drug which simulated Alzheimer's to take him out of the picture. If he were nwo globalist that wouldn't have happened.

Under the globalist plan which has been astronomically growing in its power in recent years hostile takeovers morphed businesses into monsters, legislation passed by globalist in congress allowed them to become bankruptcy casualties. We know money was taken and only time will reveal by precisely whom and for what, but likely the public won't know the truth for many years.

When a government gets so big that it is everything to everyone it can unilaterally cease to be anything to anyone by withdrawing whatever service it offers in order to balance its new agenda. I can withhold my own health care and don't need an agenda driven bureaucracy to mandate it for me.
@Kaptainess, your historical interpetations and insurance industry profits are interesting.

I work in the healthcare industry, I've worked at the Mayo Clinic.   The Mayo clinic stated this healthcare bill will worsen the healthcare industry, I agree.

Insurance companies DO NOT prevent anyone from getting any exam, the Govt. on the other hand will be able to do so.

Insurance companies take claims and approve or disapprove them. Your friend's mom I cannot comment, but insurance companies do not deny anyone healthcare, if the doctor wouldn't do the exam, she needed to have gone elsewhere and been examined thoroughly and expeditiously.

As a side note I would rather have Reagan than BO running the economy now, hands down.
Thanks Jarasan!!! If we had Reagan running the economy it's doubtful we'd have been in this situation to begin with. And right now if he were running the economy we'd have a fighting chance. The current bunch is the exact opposite of what he represented ... it's just that socialists mantra has convinced sheeple that capitalism is evil. Pot calling the kettle black.
