The Roman Empire failed, So could America

Looks like history may reapeat itself.

Looks like Rome had a dole system too.

http://www.cato.org/pubs/journal/cjv14n2-7.html

an excerpt:
"In conclusion, the fall of Rome was fundamentally due to economic deterioration resulting from excessive taxation, inflation, and over-regulation"

Comments:
we, sadly are well on our way.
Unfortunately, But the people can elect responsible candidates to turn it around. Probably why they are all over Paul Ryan and his financial plan instead of working with him on it.
Didn't Rome overextend itself in foreign lands i.e. USA all over the globe?
paul ryan voted for tarp.
but unlike the Roman Empire that doesnt exist today the USA will be in existence in the future so while relegated to position 2, or 3 or 6 it can always pick itself back up...

TigerAngel, If memory serves me correctly the Roman Empire was spread out all over.

Pumpi,
A country can only run so long on borrowed money. The US may soon be told how we should run our country by our creditors. Just like the US informs other nations how they should run their country that accept foriegn aid from us. The only difference is foriegn aid is free money to other countries that need not repay it.

Hey Pumpi, DUDE the people and the land mass as we know as America will still be here but what form of gov,t will we be living under or what new name will the United States be known as.
The united States could also be divided up into smaller nations for all I know.
Dude !
GANGSTAPUPPETOTUSPOS don't play the fiddle, we're safe. And we have firetrucks and stuff. And we got Bwany Fwanks! And we got Eliot Spitzer. And we got Nancy Paloozi. And we got Tax demon Tin Geitner. And we got John McCain. We got Trump. We got Beiber fever. And we got the terminador pumpin' it up down south.
History shows that imperialist nation states fail 100% of the time. The more aggressive the imperialism, the faster they fall.

imperialism:

   1. The policy of extending a nation's authority by territorial acquisition or by the establishment of economic and political hegemony over other nations.
