You know, I have always thought about the same thing in the back of my mind. I am fixing to turn 54 and I know that 30 of those years there have been annual fund drives wanting money for cancer research. Really ?? This is 2016 not 1916. Technology is there.
I am 54 Reddog, and I am about to go on the mother of all rants.
GD Obamacare, GD Insurance companies, GD Doctors, GD Dentists. All of them out of control.
Let's start with obamacare, we now pay double for insurance, but guess what, we got less coverage.
More co-pays, the insurance companies are out of control, thanks to that f*&king idiot.
Now on to the dentists, more people are opting to have their teeth pulled instead of Root canals, and those Dentists will insist every tooth can be saved, gloom and doom, you will lose bone in your jaw if you don't have a root canal. They are losing money because the co-pays are so high now.
Our Dental experience from December, all 3 of us went in for routine cleanings, yay no cavities, we are good to go. WRONG, Somehow our insurance decided they only pay for 1 cleaning per year per family member. Since we had our teeth cleaned in June, our December visit wasn't covered, our share 380.00.
Are you kidding me, I hit the roof, it does not cost that much to have your teeth cleaned...but I found out the GD dentist charged up for bite wings, on accident of course, none of us had x-rays at all.
Oh he blamed it on the new girl, my butt, he didn't expect the insurance company to pull the 1 pay maneuver. I am certain he thought he could charge the insurance company and no one would be the wiser.
Now on to my son's dermatologist. He's 16 and for the last 15 years, he needs to be treated for eczema every winter, same Dr., I used to be able to call and get a script for the cream, if his eczema looked real bad I would take him in. This time, they insisted on seeing him, okay he's due.
We have a 30 dollar co-pay no problem, but somehow they decided to scrap his skin to confirm eczema, Oh yes we got the lab bill for that, not covered. Then it was on to blood work, I asked why does he need blood work? they gave me some kooky answer about infection, He did not have a fever, the area was not warm or oozy and I said no. I already new from my blood work experience we would be footing the bill. Hence, the you are a bad parent commenced. So, they gave us some dove soap and booklets and tried to charge 10 dollars for the mini seminar. They got their books and soap back, will be looking for new dermatologist. or maybe will try coconut oil, or witchcraft, or Indian guru anyone but these clowns.
Now on to my husband, he's had skin cancer twice, both arms wrists to shoulders. This is the easy to cure cancer, if you can call it that. You apply cream, the spots scab over then you apply the healing cream. Looks ugly, but is actually painless. He never even missed a day of work. Well, he goes every April for a yearly check-up, they call out of the blue last month and want to see him, he thinks nothing of it and goes in, well, more skin scrapings and blood work and they want to see him and his 30 dollar co-pay every six months now. There is no way they can prevent it from popping out again, he knows what to look for, but they want to help, and even though we have BCBS, WE PAY FOR OUR MEDICAL BILLS. Isn't obamacare fun, we pay double for the opportunity to pay our own bills.
Now on to me, my Dr who has been treating me for my lung problems wants me in every 3 month's now, even though I have improved my lung function and my pulse ox is at 96 . Not smoking, sticking to the low fat high fiber diet, My weight has been steady at 135, not bad for my age and for how tall I am.
I go for my walks drink lots of water and I feel good, am down to only a rescue inhaler which I need at work. Now they want me in the cat scan 3 times a year instead of 2, oh yes that blood work also.
Plus, they have a whole line of prevention lined up, want me to get another mammogram, another colonoscopy, kiss my butt, not doing that again unless there's a problem. They want me to wear a heart monitor twice a years, just for prevention, blood pressure always normal, no erractic heartbeat, no cholesterol problems, sugar normal, triglycerides normal...WTH ARE THEY PREVENTING? I'm FINE.
I AM FED UP, I am sure their are people who feel I should pay double the insurance AND PAY FOR MY MEDICAL TREATMENT at the same time, so someone else can have insurance that I work for and I pay for. Pissed doesn't even come close.
That corrupt azzhole is causing medicine to become corrupt, Big Pharma in my mind has always been corrupt, but the medical people will now nickel and dime us to make up for loses.
Time to change docs sully. I have eczema to the point my fingers and knuckles Crack open. I had to change docs because of insurance and my new one has been great. He respects how I feel and doesn't try to push needless procedures on me. I'm diabetic and I see him twice a year. He suggests things, gives me pros and cons and respects my decision.
The best we can hope for is that ovomit is replaced by a potus that scraps ovomitcare.
Winter eczema is a pain, the doctor says don't scrub the skin at all when bathing, use moisturizing soap like oil of olay dove etc.. then while your skin is still damp apply baby oil or the gel oil and air dry tamp, but don't scrub with towel at all. Also said skip a day or two showering during the a week if possible, let the skin recover heal etc..
For the hands you may need a steroidal cream and avoid hot water and any dessicating type soaps. Sometimes if it's severe on the hands they have special gloves that keep your skin PH and moisture correct to heal along with the meds.
Sully, I feel your pain as I have experienced similar scenarios with our family. It was actually cheaper to pay for dental cleaning our of pockets than to go through our insurance. I had blood work done and a doctor at a small family clinic only charged me $25 for cash payment and told me it would have been $300 had it gone through the insurance company. This whole medical industry is a corrupt cess pool and I am on the same page as Maddog in his skepticism about curing cancer.

Consider this, the liberals have wanted communized health care since they foisted socialist security on us back in 1935! They had 75 years (yes that is right...75 years) between 1935 and 2010 to come up with a plan and they still managed to make it a flunked up piece of crap after taking 75 years to shove it up our butts! Yes Obamacare was 75 years in the making and this is the best they could come up with!!!
