I love Burgess Meredith. This is one of my favorites. He does a good job in this episode...people with power over you have all the confidence in the world when a system or people are behind/with them but let it be on them, then they sweat bullets. That fear comes out and then they become a human being. Something they didn't consider in their treatment of you. Most people in power are cowards.
